It may surprise you to learn that 60% of all pain experienced by our client's is referred pain. Referred pain is pain that is felt at a remote site from the origin of the problem. This means that if the Massage Therapist bases their treatment on palpation alone, without doing a proper orthopedic assessment, the margin of error will be unacceptably high. Incorporating orthopedic assessment into your practice not only increases your accuracy when identifying dysfunction, but increases the rate of success of the massage treatment as well.
