The transverse abdominis is an important part of the core that often gets over looked. It is a deep abdominal muscle that helps to stabilize the core, compresses the abdomen, and assists in breathing. It originates from the lateral third of the inguinal ligament, anterior iliac crest, part of the lower 6 ribs, and the thoracolumbar fascia. It inserts into the lines alba, part of the internal oblique, and p***c crest.

Proper activation of the transverse abdominis can support posture, improve movement control, and reduce strain on your back.
