Self-care is not selfish. It is a key part of co-regulation.

When parents are exhausted, it becomes harder to stay calm during challenging moments. Sleep, nourishing food, movement, and small breaks are not extras. They are the foundation that helps you show up grounded and present for your kids.

Caring for yourself supports your child’s regulation too, especially during the busy holiday season. 💚

We are so grateful for our community and can’t wait to welcome you back in the new year, refreshed and ready for what’s ahead.

Until then, we wish you a season filled with rest, warmth, and meaningful moments. 💚✨

Family gatherings can be joyful, but they can also feel overwhelming for kids with ADHD, autism, or anxiety. Big groups, noise, and long expectations can take a toll.

Planning ahead helps. Sharing the schedule, creating space for breaks, and bringing familiar comfort items like fidgets or headphones can support regulation and reduce stress for everyone.

When kids feel supported, families can focus more on connection and less on coping. 💚

✨ Meet the Team Tuesday! ✨
We’re so excited to welcome Nimra back to Elevated Abilities! She started her journey here as as a practicum student, and now is joining us as an amazing Occupational Therapists! 💛
She brings a warm, strengths-based, family-centered approach to supporting kids and families, with practical strategies that fit into real-life routines.
And when she’s not in session, you’ll probably find her relaxing in a cozy coffee shop ☕️🤎
Help us welcome Nimra to the team!

Bossy thoughts can sound loud and convincing, especially for kids who get frustrated easily. Helpful thoughts give them space to pause, try again and feel capable.

CBT teaches children how to tell the difference and how to practise more realistic and supportive thinking. Parents can use these same tools too, especially during busy or stressful days at home.

Building these skills together strengthens confidence, emotional regulation and resilience.

Cooler weather brings new challenges for many kids. For children with sensory sensitivities or executive functioning difficulties, winter routines can feel extra tough. Scratchy jackets, tight shoes, heavy backpacks and rushed mornings can all lead to frustration or meltdowns.

A little preparation, simple steps and comfy clothing can help make mornings feel smoother for everyone.

Elevated Abilities is here to support families through every winter change 💙❄️
