Big feelings don’t always come from what’s happening right now. Sometimes a child’s nervous system is still holding onto something that once felt scary, overwhelming, or unsafe.

EMDR helps the brain gently process those experiences so kids can feel calmer, safer, and less “stuck” in stress responses. Through simple techniques like tapping, sounds, or visual cues, the nervous system learns that the danger has passed.

Whether it’s anxiety, nightmares, fearfulness, or lingering stress after a big life event, EMDR offers a supportive path toward regulation and healing.

Therapy can meet children where they are — and help them move forward with confidence. 💙

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps kids understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions.

By learning to challenge bossy thoughts and practice more helpful ones, children build emotional awareness, confidence, and coping skills they can use in everyday life.

This is Part 2 of our Therapy Thursday series, where we explain therapy approaches in simple and supportive ways for families. 💚

Sand tray therapy helps children express what they may not yet be able to say out loud.

Through sand, figures, and sensory play, the tray becomes a child’s voice. It gives therapists a window into what is happening inside while helping children feel safe, understood, and supported.

This approach is especially helpful for children with big emotions, those who feel overwhelmed by questions, or kids who communicate best through play.

This is Part 1 of our Therapy Thursday series, where we explain therapy approaches in simple and practical ways for families. 💚

It’s not always motivation. When tasks feel too big, kids often need help knowing where to start.

Breaking tasks into simple steps like first, next, then reduces overwhelm and builds confidence one step at a time. 💚
