This week marks National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize the many people who give their time, energy, and heart to others in meaningful ways.

As part of National Volunteer Week, we’re honoured to shine a spotlight on some of AgeCare's very special volunteers. At Regina Gardens (Hamilton, ON), Anne is one of them. As both a resident and a volunteer, Anne brings a steady presence to daily life in the home. Each morning, she shares announcements, music, and moments of connection that help everyone feel included and engaged.

Her contributions reach far beyond the microphone. From organizing 50/50 draws and supporting residents in memory care to hosting evening movies and serving as Residents’ Council President, Anne continuously creates opportunities for connection across the community.

We’re proud to celebrate Anne and the many ways she helps make AgeCare Regina Gardens feel like home. 💙

Earlier this month, AgeCare BC came together for the Directors of Care Professional Development Day, held at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Directors of Care and Practice Leads across 15 communities came together to share knowledge, build bonds, strengthen their leadership skills, build approaches to support residents with complex behaviours, and enhance their program evaluation skills.

Through open discussion and shared expertise, teams learned from one another and explored practical ways to support care teams and residents alike. The days were both thoughtful and energizing, grounded in a shared commitment to person-centred care.

Participants returned to their communities with new insights, strengthened connections, and a renewed focus on supporting residents and teams every day. 💙

Over the past six weeks, AgeCare had the opportunity to partner with students from the Administrative Information Management program at SAIT (Calgary, AB) on a capstone project focused on supporting innovation in our communities. Their work was proudly showcased at the SAIT Capstone Fair, where ideas, insights, and thoughtful solutions came together.

We’re grateful to the students for their curiosity and commitment throughout this experience, and to our team members who supported the journey along the way.

Small acts of care can have a wide-reaching impact. 💙

This week, members of the AgeCare team came together at the Calgary Food Bank alongside hundreds of volunteers, helping to shop, pack, and organize thousands of food hampers for individuals and families across the community.

Since 2020, the number of food hampers provided by the Calgary Food Bank has increased by nearly 200%, a reflection of the growing need for food access and support. We’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside an organization working to meet that need every day.
