Under glowing lights, residents and guests gathered for a memorable Full Moon celebration last week at AgeCare SkyPointe (Calgary, AB).

Inspired by traditions that honour the full moon as a time for reflection, connection, and new beginnings, the atrium at AgeCare SkyPointe transformed into a moonlit gathering filled with music. Residents enjoyed interesting moon facts, island-inspired tunes, and dancing in their own way - from the dance floor to their chairs and tables.

The evening also included themed treats, “space” drinks, and a stunning galaxy cake that made the celebration even sweeter. 🌕

A very special visitor stopped by to brighten the day at AgeCare Elmira (Elmira, ON).

One of the residents at AgeCare Elmira has always loved Paw Patrol, so when the opportunity came to meet Skye - the fearless helicopter pilot known for the words, “This pup’s gotta fly!” - it quickly became a moment no one will forget. Seeing her face light up as Skye arrived was pure joy, and the excitement quickly spread throughout the home.

We’re deeply grateful to Spin Master (https://hubs.ly/Q04627kc0) and Kidomo (https://hubs.ly/Q04625DB0), whose kindness made this visit possible. Their team went above and beyond, even travelling from Oshawa with costume in hand, simply to bring happiness to a resident who means so much to our community.

Moments like this remind us how powerful compassion and community can be. 💙

Rhythm, culture, and great food brought people together throughout Black History Month last month at AgeCare Trilogy (Scarborough, ON).

Residents and team members explored cultural traditions and celebrations from different parts of the world, including lively Ugandan drumming and a pot-balancing demonstration that sparked plenty of smiles. The celebrations also included a taste of Jamaican culture, with delicious patties enjoyed together.

Moments like these create space to learn from one another, celebrate culture, and honour the stories that shape our communities. ✨

Colour, laughter, and a spirit of togetherness filled the room as residents and staff celebrated Holi last week at Regina Gardens Long-Term Care Residence (Hamilton, ON).

Known as the Festival of Colours, Holi marks the arrival of spring and celebrates renewal, unity, and the triumph of good over evil. Surrounded by colourful powders (gulal), residents and team members learned about the traditions behind the celebration while sharing smiles, stories, and plenty of colour along the way. 💙

February brought many reasons to gather at AgeCare Holyrood (Maple Ridge, BC). 💙

Residents shared sweet treats and kind words on Valentine's Day, welcomed the Lunar New Year with celebration and reflection, and stood together in pink on Pink Shirt Day to show that respect and inclusion matter here every day.

On March 3, we were honoured to welcome Ontario’s Minister of Long-Term Care, Hon. Natalia Kusendova-Bashta to AgeCare Pine Grove, located in Woodbridge, ON.

During the visit, the Minister joined AgeCare CEO Salimah Walji-Shivji and the Pine Grove team for a tour of the community and enjoyed homemade biscotti, made onsite by the residents.

We are grateful for Minister Kusendova-Bashta's willingness to meet with the AgeCare leadership team and bring new and innovative programs and ideas to our sector. It is with your type of leadership that our sector will thrive and meet the continuous needs of our residents!

A sea of pink brought our communities together this week in a shared stand against bullying and a shared commitment to kindness. 💗

At AgeCare Walden Heights (Calgary, AB), AgeCare Harmony Court (Burnaby, BC), AgeCare Mount Ida Mews (Salmon Arm, BC), and AgeCare Jasper Place (Edmonton, AB), residents and team members proudly wore pink in honour of Pink Shirt Day.

What began as a simple act of solidarity in Canada has grown into a powerful reminder that respect, inclusion, and compassion matter - in schools, online, in workplaces, and in our long-term care homes. Thank you to everyone who took part and continues to foster environments where every person feels seen, heard, and valued.

February brought plenty of energy and celebration to AgeCare Sandringham (Victoria, BC).

From cheering on the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics to marking Valentine’s Day, Family Day, and Lunar New Year, the month was filled with moments that brought residents, families, and friends together.

For Family Day, family members joined residents for tea and an afternoon of board games, including Scrabble, Yahtzee, and Cribbage. There was even a little tabletop curling to keep the Olympic spirit alive.

It was a month shaped by connection, laughter, and time spent together. 💙

Congratulations to Judy Calhoun of AgeCare Royal City (New Westminster, BC), who received the 2025 Family Champion Award at the BC Care Providers Association 12th Annual Awards last night in Victoria B.C.

Thank you to BCCPA and to PointClickCare for supporting the Family Champion Award, which recognizes individuals who strengthen seniors’ care by advocating for families and helping elevate quality of life for older adults across the province.

Judy Calhoun (centre of photo) has been a trusted presence for families at AgeCare Royal City for more than a decade. As the heart of the Family Council since 2014, she has supported families, listening with care and fostering a culture of trust, kindness and understanding. She has strengthened relationships between families, staff and volunteers, helping champion meaningful improvements to residents’ comfort and well-being.

This recognition reflects the powerful role families play in care, and Judy embodies that spirit in every way. Congratulations, Judy. 💙

Music has a special way of bringing generations together. 💙

At AgeCare Willowgrove (Ancaster, ON), residents recently shared the joy of song and rhythm with some new friends from Blossom Musik of Ancaster during an intergenerational music class. Residents sang along, tried out instruments, and delighted in watching the little ones explore the music. The energy was contagious, and by the end of the morning, many were already asking when the children could come back.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful it can be to create space for connection across generations.

A little music, colour, and celebration brought the spirit of Mardi Gras to AgeCare Bow Crest (Calgary, AB).

Residents enjoyed an afternoon filled with festive touches, including masks, beads, sweet treats, and a live band! Longtime banjo player Johnny Thorson, who has been sharing his music with the community for more than 16 years, helped make the celebration especially memorable. 🌈

Earlier this month, Valentine’s Day brought moments of creativity and connection across AgeCare communities. ❤️

At AgeCare Aurora (Aurora, ON), residents, staff, and even Snickers the cat embraced the spirit of the day with music, sweet treats, and a lively photo booth. Staff and residents also wore red, pink, and white, adding a festive touch to the celebration.

At AgeCare Harmony Court Estate (Burnaby, BC), residents and team members took part in a door decorating contest, adding colour throughout the home and creating a cheerful atmosphere for all to enjoy.
