In honour of Family Day, our office will be closing at 12:15 PM on Friday, February 13, and will be closed all day Monday, February 16.

This February, learn about the inspirational stories of Black Canadian veterans like Harrison William Ryan.

During the month of February, we are encouraging everyone to read the stories and learn the history of Black Canadian Veterans, in honour of Black History Month.

Stories like that of Harrison William Ryan. Harrison William Ryan was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and was raised by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Charlotte Ryan.

At the age of 17, Ryan enlisted in the Canadian Army on June 30, 1941. He was deployed to England in September 1941 and served as a Nursing Orderly with the 22/21 Field Ambulance Unit and the 5th General Hospital. His role involved providing essential medical care to wounded soldiers.
