Regis Prograis was one of my favorite fighters.
You can imagine my surprise when back in September 2021 he reached out to me to inquire about us working together.
Regis had one goal in mind & that was to become a World Champion yet again.
Regis had already been a World Champion once before, but after the Josh Taylor fight & after missing weight in two fights that followed, he knew changes had to be made if he wanted to become World Champion again.
Within a week of our first phone call, I flew down to Houston & we did a 10-day mock camp. The goal was simple: find out if he could still make 140 lbs.
He did, easy!
This was the beginning of my journey with Regis & helping him become the best in the world yet again.
In this time, Regis fought some of the best fighters & biggest names in the World like Josh Taylor, Devin Haney, Jack Catterall, Jose Zepeda, Tyrone McKenna, Jojo Diaz and finally Conor Benn and he did it in their own backyard most of the time.
The standout moment for me in my time working with Regis came against Jose Zepeda at the War Grounds in Carson California when he achieved his goal, becoming World Champion again by winning the WBC World Title.
Boxing is the hardest sport in the world. It isn't easy to climb to the top of the mountain once, let alone twice.
Anyone that does deserves nothing but respect!
The last dance was a fun one on one of the biggest stages watched globally on Netflix by over 5 million people & watched live in front of a crowd of 65,000 people against one of the new faces of boxing.
Regis leaves the sport on his own terms & in doing so can look back proudly at all of his accomplishments. He leaves behind one hell of a legacy that he, his team, friends & family can all be proud of.
Regis is a future hall of famer.
Champ, thank you for trusting me & thank you for allowing me to be part of your incredible story.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the next chapter in life brings for you & your family.
Enjoy retirement, Champ.
You earned every bit of it.
