Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides self-run, peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Drumheller and Edmonton. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard. They know they’ll get out what they put in. And when they take the next step to live in an Oxford Home, they know we’ll support them. Because we’ve been there and know how important this step is. Recovery without relapse is possible in an Oxford home. Each home forms its own family and is situated in a suburban neighbourhood away from danger areas. The peer support of other residents in the house who have experienced many of the same difficulties is a benefit to our residents. They find understanding and hope while learning how to live with life’s challenges.

💙 2025 Pre-Treatment Impact at Oxford House 💙

Oxford House’s Pre-Treatment housing—funded by Recovery Alberta—fills a critical gap for people moving from detox to treatment by providing a safe, stable, and supportive place to land.

While in our care, clients take part in psycho-educational groups, life skills training, recovery coaching, and recovery-focused meetings. They build personalized recovery plans and positive connections that prepare them for the next chapter of their journey.

In 2025, 226 individuals made it to treatment. Without this program, many may have returned to the streets or unsafe environments. Instead, they had the stability and support needed to keep moving forward.

Pre-Treatment housing saves lives and creates real pathways to lasting recovery. We are deeply grateful to our clients for the courage they show in choosing recovery, and to Recovery Alberta for the vital funding that makes this life-changing work possible.

Together, we are helping people build healthier, hope-filled futures.

“Thank you, Oxford House, for this opportunity, and thank you to the staff for all the support, resources, and for making me feel cared about.”

The period between detox and treatment is one of the most vulnerable times for someone seeking sobriety. Without support, many risk returning to unsafe environments that jeopardize their recovery.

Oxford House’s Pre-Treatment program bridges this critical gap, offering a safe, stable, and supportive environment for those transitioning to residential treatment. This life-changing program provides structure, guidance, and the tools needed for long-term recovery.

By providing more than just shelter, the Pre-Treatment program offers hope and a chance at a brighter future. It’s not just transforming lives—it’s saving them. 💙

🌟💪 RECOVERY: Embracing a Life of Abundance 💪🌟

"ADDICTION IS GIVING UP EVERYTHING FOR ONE THING. RECOVERY IS GIVING UP ONE THING FOR EVERYTHING."

These powerful words hold the essence of a transformative journey that many brave souls embark upon – the journey from addiction to recovery. Addiction, be it to substances, behaviours, or anything that takes control over our lives, can feel all-consuming. It demands our time, energy, relationships, and aspirations, leaving us feeling trapped and isolated.

However, the beacon of hope lies in recovery, where we take back control of our lives, one step at a time. It is a path filled with challenges, but it opens the doors to a life of fulfillment, purpose, and joy.

Recovery is not just about abstaining from substances or breaking free from harmful habits. It's about rediscovering ourselves, reclaiming our dreams, and rebuilding our relationships. It's a holistic transformation that touches every aspect of our being, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Letting go of addiction might seem daunting, but it paves the way for an extraordinary exchange. By giving up that one thing that had consumed us, we gain EVERYTHING – freedom, self-respect, genuine connections, and the ability to experience life to the fullest.

It's essential to remember that the journey to recovery doesn't happen overnight, and it's okay to stumble along the way. What matters is the determination to get back up and keep moving forward. Support from loved ones, professional help, and communities that understand and uplift us become invaluable pillars of strength on this path.

So, if you or someone you know is battling addiction, know that there's hope and a brighter future ahead. Recovery is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of choosing life over self-destruction.

Let's spread awareness, understanding, and compassion, so those in need find the courage to embark on the path of recovery. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding addiction and create a world where everyone gets the support they deserve.

Breaking the cycle of addiction isn't just about reclaiming your life—it's about setting a powerful example for those who look up to you, especially your children and future generations. When you choose recovery, you're not just choosing a healthier path for yourself; you're also breaking the chains that could otherwise bind your loved ones.

Substance abuse and addiction can be passed down through generations, often due to learned behaviors and environmental factors. By seeking recovery, you show that change is possible, and you lay the foundation for a brighter future. You're teaching your children and those around you that there are healthy ways to cope with life's challenges, that it's okay to ask for help, and that they too can break free from the cycle.

Your decision to seek recovery today can ripple through time, influencing not just your life, but the lives of your children and their children. Take that step for yourself and for the generations to come. Learn more about how Oxford House can help at https://www.oxfordhouse.ca/

Oxford House would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sean Clark of Avison Young for his incredible generosity. Sean recently donated an amazing collection of high-quality men’s clothing — including suit jackets, slacks, dress shirts, gym wear, socks, and more — all of which will directly support the men in our programs as they rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence.

Sean, thank you for everything you do in the community and for the many ways you continue to support Oxford House. Your kindness truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful.

🚨 Quadruple Twinning Alert! 🚨

Apparently today’s unofficial dress code is: Emotional Support Black Clothing.

There are FOUR of us—yes, FOUR—walking around like we’re:
🖤 Starting a goth band
🖤 Auditioning to be backup ninjas
🖤 Attending the world’s most stylish laundry crisis
🖤 Or maybe just sharing one collective brain cell and it chose “black outfit day”

Coincidence? Fate? A mysterious fashion cult forming?

No one knows. But rest assured… we look very coordinated and slightly suspicious. 😎🖤

And when they move into an Oxford Home, they know we’ll welcome and support them with information and resources within the recovery, and greater community.

Why?

Because we’ve been there and understand that acceptance, hope, honesty, personal accountability, goal setting, and gratitude are crucial to long-term recovery.
