Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides self-run, peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Drumheller and Edmonton. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard. They know they’ll get out what they put in. And when they take the next step to live in an Oxford Home, they know we’ll support them. Because we’ve been there and know how important this step is. Recovery without relapse is possible in an Oxford home. Each home forms its own family and is situated in a suburban neighbourhood away from danger areas. The peer support of other residents in the house who have experienced many of the same difficulties is a benefit to our residents. They find understanding and hope while learning how to live with life’s challenges.

Finding a safe, stable place to live is a crucial part of recovery. When someone leaves treatment and returns to a stressful home or faces homelessness, staying sober becomes much harder. That’s where Oxford House makes a real difference.

Oxford House provides a supportive, home-like environment for people in recovery who are seeking sober living. Residents live in a safe and stable setting where they can focus on healing, building life skills, and forming healthy relationships with others who understand their journey.

This kind of supportive housing significantly lowers the risk of relapse and helps people build a strong foundation for long-term recovery. It’s not just about having a roof overhead — it’s about having the support needed to move forward with confidence and hope.

Everyone in recovery deserves the chance to thrive. If you or someone you know is looking for sober living support, learn more about Oxford House here: https://www.oxfordhouse.ca/sober-living-alberta

We did it — and we did it with style and class.

I am SO proud of this community.

For Coldest Night of the Year, we set what felt like an audacious goal: $20,000.

And not only did we reach it… we exceeded it by 46%. That’s not just a number. That translates into one full year of sober living for 18 residents — that’s 3 houses + 3 residents. Real people. Real recovery. Real hope. That’s incredible.

But here’s what matters most: this happened because you showed up like superheroes.

Every single one of you impacted the success of this event.

To our Team Captains who rallied your people and led the charge — your leadership moved mountains.

To every Walker who braved the cold and asked friends and family to invest in recovery — your courage changed lives.

To every Volunteer who greeted, cheered, directed, served, and supported — you created the heart and soul of the day.

This success belongs to every one of you. You are absolute rock stars — capes optional, impact undeniable.

Donations are still open at www.cnoy.org until March 31st… so who knows? Maybe $30,000 isn’t out of reach.

With deep gratitude and so much pride in this community — thank you for making this happen. 💛

Our Story

Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Edmonton and Drumheller. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard to maintain their recovery and take the necessary steps toward independent, financially sustainable and more fulfilling lives. And when they move into an Oxford Home, they know we’ll welcome and support them with information and resources within the recovery, and greater community.

Why?

Because we’ve been there and understand that acceptance, hope, honesty, personal accountability, goal setting, and gratitude are crucial to long-term recovery.

When asked why the program works, residents respond:
