2025/26 Stats
226 went to treatment
49 moved out sober
97 stayed in residence
The longer the stay, the better the chance for life-long sobriety
Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides self-run, peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Drumheller and Edmonton. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard. They know they’ll get out what they put in. And when they take the next step to live in an Oxford Home, they know we’ll support them. Because we’ve been there and know how important this step is. Recovery without relapse is possible in an Oxford home. Each home forms its own family and is situated in a suburban neighbourhood away from danger areas. The peer support of other residents in the house who have experienced many of the same difficulties is a benefit to our residents. They find understanding and hope while learning how to live with life’s challenges.

Feeling incredibly grateful
Oxford House is so thankful to ICNA for donating 30 brand new winter jackets. This generous gift will truly mean the world to individuals leaving detox and entering Pre-Treatment housing.
Pre-Treatment is a safe, supportive place where people can stabilize after detox while they wait to enter formal treatment. It’s often a vulnerable in-between time—and many arrive with only the clothes on their back. Having something as simple (and essential) as a warm winter jacket brings dignity, comfort, and a reminder that someone cares.
To ICNA: thank you for showing up in such a tangible, compassionate way. Your kindness will be felt every single day this winter by people taking brave steps toward recovery.

🎉 Milestone for Recovery in Canada! 🎉
Oxford House Foundation of Canada is proud to announce that we have received three-year accreditation through CARF Canada for North America’s first and only Licensed and Accredited Pre-Treatment Housing Model. This achievement is the result of years of dedication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.
To our staff, past and present: your hard work and dedication made this possible. To our Board: thank you for your confidence and guidance over the years. To our clients: your voices and experiences have been at the heart of shaping this model—it was built for you.
This accredited model is fully funded by the Government of Alberta, removing another barrier for those seeking recovery and allowing us to support even more people in need.
Together, we are proving that meaningful change is possible, one life at a time.

🎉 Happy 30th Birthday, Oxford House 🎉
Today we celebrate three decades of hope, healing, and community — and we do so with deep gratitude and remembrance. On this milestone birthday, we honour the vision and tireless work of our founders, Eve and Ron MacMillan, whose dedication helped establish long-term recovery homes across Alberta and changed countless lives along the way.
Ron’s own journey of recovery, paired with his unwavering love for helping others, shaped everything Oxford House stands for. As our founding Executive Director, he carried a steadfast belief that anyone could overcome addiction and live life to the fullest — a belief that still guides us today.
Those of us carrying the mission forward do so with the same passion, compassion, and hope Ron lived by. Happy 30 years, Oxford House. Your legacy lives on in every life rebuilt and every door opened. 💙

When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard to maintain their recovery and take the necessary steps toward independent, financially sustainable and more fulfilling lives. And when they move into an Oxford Home, they know we’ll welcome and support them with information and resources within the recovery, and greater community.
Why?
Because we’ve been there and understand that acceptance, hope, honesty, personal accountability, goal setting, and gratitude are crucial to long-term recovery.
When asked why the program works, residents respond:
•They’ve learned life skills such as conflict resolution, listening, cooperation and assertiveness
•They are able to focus on self-care, recovery, have good social supports in place
•They’ve learned to become accountable and responsible
•They are healing family relationships and building new healthy relationships
•They feel safe, increased self worth/ confidence/ esteem. Each home forms its own family and is situated in a suburban neighbourhood away from danger areas.
The peer support of other residents in the house who have experienced many of the same difficulties is a benefit to our residents. They find understanding and hope while learning how to live with life’s challenges.
