Partner assisted yin is a very hands on class. Your partner will be assisting you to create a positive physical stress in the target area of the yin pose. You should be comfortable with being touched in a safe, supported environment.
During the first half of the class, partners will work together with one acting as the teacher and the other as the student. With guidance from Alan and Brandi, the teacher will help the student enter poses and create gentle physical stress in the target area. The five focus areas are the spine, glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and twists, each followed by relaxation.
After a short break, partners will switch roles and repeat the same process, with Alan and Brandi guiding the pose setup.
At no point should the student be taken beyond the first point of physical stress in the target area. This is a core principle of yin yoga—there is no benefit to pushing deeper into the pose. These are assists, not adjustments.
BENEFITS OF PARTNER ASSISTED YIN

Learn simple yin poses – You’ll learn a small set of effective yin poses that you can easily practice outside the studio.
Rebound effect – As the student, you’re more likely to experience the rebound sensation after a pose which often occurs more strongly in assisted yin compared to traditional floor yin.
