Today is World Book Day 📚

It’s a global initiative led by UNESCO to celebrate the power of reading, storytelling, and access to knowledge.

At CMHA Calgary, we see every day how stories can support mental health.

Sometimes it’s a book that helps you make sense of what you’re feeling.

Sometimes it’s learning something new that gives you a bit more confidence.

And sometimes it’s simply taking a quiet moment to slow down and reset.

Reading can be a small but meaningful way to care for your mental health.

It builds connection.
It sparks reflection.
It reminds us we’re not alone.

Whether it’s a novel, a poem, or a course through Recovery College Calgary, it all counts.

April is Stress Awareness Month.

Not all stress is something to avoid. Sometimes it’s helping you grow. Sometimes it’s telling you to slow down.

Learning the difference is where things start to shift. Read our new blog post on YouthSmart to learn more about the different types of stress: https://www.youthsmart.ca/not-all-stress-is-the-enemy/

Or take our FREE EQUIPPED course on Stress Management and Healthy Coping at https://equipped.youthsmart.ca/courses/stress-management-and-healthy-coping/

It’s always a good day when PALS stops by the Welcome Centre. Nothing like a little extra PAWsitivity to brighten the space and spark connection!

Our Welcome Centre is open Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. –4:00 p.m. and there’s always something happening. Whether you’re dropping in for a moment of connection, a conversation, or just a warm, welcoming space to be, you’re always welcome here.

We’ve created a café-style environment where people can connect, share, and explore mental health and well-being in a way that feels safe and comfortable. You’ll also find Peer Support Workers here, people with lived experience who are ready to listen and support, without judgment.

Come stop by! Parking is available on nearby side streets, and we’re fully accessible by transit with elevator access.

Curious what’s coming up?

At CMHA Calgary, we understand how stable housing, connection, and the right supports can make a difference.

RentSmart reflects a shared commitment to prevention—and to supporting people in staying well in their communities. That’s why we’re proud to be working alongside Community Housing Transformation Centre (the Centre) and the City of Calgary Home Program to bring RentSmart to Calgary!

Stress shows up in all of our lives, sometimes quietly, sometimes all at once. And for many emerging adults, navigating life changes, relationships, and responsibilities can make it feel even heavier.

This Stress Awareness Month, we’re creating space to slow down, reflect, and build skills that support your wellbeing 💛

Our Stress Management and Healthy Coping online module on EQUIPPED is designed to help you better understand your stress and explore ways to work through it, at your own pace, in a way that feels right for you.

In just about an hour, you’ll gain practical tools, along with a workbook to keep supporting you beyond the session.

You don’t have to have it all figured out — this can be a place to start. Take the free course here: https://equipped.youthsmart.ca/courses/stress-management-and-healthy-coping/
