What does it mean to invest in youth voices?

For Maliyah Chance, it means showing up, listening, and walking alongside young people as they build confidence and resilience.

In our latest blog, Maliyah shares how mentorship, community, and using your voice can create lasting impact.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today and every day, we celebrate the women who shape our communities with strength, resilience, compassion, and leadership. At CMHA Calgary, we see every day how women support one another, advocate for mental health, and help create spaces of hope, connection, and belonging.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, is a reminder that when we invest in and support women’s wellbeing, our entire community grows stronger.

When women feel heard, supported, and empowered, everyone benefits.

We’re truly thankful for the amazing support powering The Push-Up Challenge!

Thanks to 3,942 Champions, an amazing $276,094 has already been raised to support mental health. This year you have until March 21 to show your support!

Across Calgary, thousands of people have shown that small actions can create meaningful change. Your support helps expand mental health education, peer support, and prevention programs that reach individuals and families across our community.

Thank you for being part of this movement!

150 push-ups today.

That number reflects the 150 minutes of physical activity recommended each week to support overall health and wellbeing.

It is not about perfection. It is about consistency.

A walk at lunch. A workout after work. A few push-ups between meetings. Small, repeatable actions that help manage stress, improve mood, and build resilience over time.

The same is true for mental health. Small conversations. Small check-ins. Small moments of connection.

Here in Calgary, thousands of people are taking on The Push-Up Challenge to show that everyday actions matter. When you support CMHA Calgary through the challenge, you are helping strengthen local programs that teach coping skills, build resilience, and support people before they reach a crisis point.

150 today. One step, one rep, one healthier week at a time.

Today’s push-up target is 200.

Globally, more than twice as many men die by su***de than women. It is a sobering reminder that we need to keep talking about men’s mental health, here in Calgary and beyond.

Across our city, men are showing up for The Push-Up Challenge at worksites, in gyms, in fire halls, in offices, and in living rooms. They are pushing for conversations that too often go unspoken.

Strength is not staying silent. Strength is checking in. Strength is asking for help. Strength is having each other’s backs.

When you support The Push-Up Challenge through CMHA Calgary, you are helping expand local mental health education, peer support, and prevention programs that reach men and families across our community.

Every push-up sparks a conversation. Every donation helps build a Calgary where mental health is treated as essential, not optional.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. You are not alone.

Today is Pink Shirt Day.

Across Calgary, people are showing up in pink to take a stand against bullying and to remind each other that kindness matters, at school, at work, online, and in our communities.

At CMHA Calgary, we see every day how bullying and exclusion can affect mental health, and how powerful connection, compassion, and speaking up can be. Creating spaces where people feel safe, respected, and supported is something we all have a role in.

Today is a reminder that small actions, checking in on someone, listening without judgment, standing beside someone who needs support, can make a real difference.

Let’s keep building a community where everyone feels they belong.

Today’s push-up target is 60, a reminder of the 60 minutes children and youth are encouraged to spend being physically active every day.

Here in Calgary, we see every day how movement, connection, and supportive environments help young people build resilience and protect their mental health.

Across our city, participants are taking part in The Push-Up Challenge at home, in schools, and in workplaces, pushing for a community where kids and youth have the tools and supports they need to stay well.

Before school. After practice. Between meetings.
Not for medals. For better mental health in Calgary.

When you support The Push-Up Challenge through CMHA Calgary, you are helping expand local mental health education, youth programs, and prevention initiatives that reach young people and families across our community.

If you are able, consider making a donation or cheering on someone who is participating. Every push-up helps spark conversations and strengthen support close to home.

Last week, when it was −26°C in Calgary, most of us were reaching for another layer.

Sean? He was outside doing push-ups.

Introducing the Polar Bear Push-Up 🐻‍❄️💪

This is what pushing for better mental health looks like. Showing up. Having a little fun. And proving that even in the coldest moments, community keeps us moving.

As we head into the final stretch of the Push-Up Challenge, let Sean’s frosty determination be your reminder. Every push-up, every conversation, every donation helps create a community where mental health matters.

Want to join us or support the cause? There’s still time to push with Calgary.

We’re grateful to see Phil’s story shared as part of Beyond the Label, an independent series featured on TELUS STORYHIVE that explores real experiences of mental health and the importance of honest conversation.

Phil is a valued member of our community at CMHA Calgary, and this episode offers a powerful look at his journey — including reflections on depression, anxiety, workplace culture, and the impact of speaking openly about mental health.

Thank you to Shannon and the Beyond the Label team for helping bring stories like this forward and contributing to the ongoing work of reducing stigma.

We invite you to watch and listen.

Are you feeling it? Is your team?

Between the headlines, busy schedules, and everything life throws our way, you might be feeling the weight a little more this week. Maybe there’s still some hockey heartbreak hanging around too.

Get down on the floor with us today. While Canadians across the country are completing 2,000 push-ups over 23 days, right here in Calgary thousands of people are pushing for better mental health in our workplaces, schools, and neighbourhoods.

Before work. Between meetings. After long days.
Not for medals. Not for glory. For better mental health in our community.

Every push-up helps spark conversations, build connection, and support local programs that help people learn, cope, and stay well, long before a crisis happens.

When you support The Push-Up Challenge through CMHA Calgary, you’re helping expand local mental health education, peer support, and prevention initiatives that reach people across our city.

If you’re able, consider making a personal donation and help turn this collective effort into lasting impact here at home.

If your employer offers matching gifts, you can double your impact.

Together, we’re working toward a Calgary where mental health is treated as essential, not optional and where everyone has the support they need to thrive.
