Is Your Family Ready for Home Care?
A simple checklist to guide your next step.

Starting care at home doesn’t always come from a single moment.
Often, it begins with small changes that gradually become harder to ignore.

If you’re unsure whether it’s the right time, this checklist can offer a bit of clarity.

1. Daily routines are becoming more difficult
Simple activities like preparing meals, moving safely around the home, or maintaining personal routines may take more time or feel overwhelming.

2. There are growing safety concerns
You may notice increased risk of falls, missed medications, or challenges navigating stairs and spaces safely.

3. There’s less social connection
Spending more time alone, reduced communication, or a noticeable change in mood can signal the need for more consistent companionship.

4. Family members are feeling stretched
Balancing caregiving with work, family, and personal responsibilities can become physically and emotionally demanding over time.

5. You’re unsure what the next step should be
Many families don’t have clear answers — and that’s okay. Feeling uncertain is often part of the process.

At HeartNest Care, we believe care decisions shouldn’t feel rushed or pressured.
It starts with understanding your situation, your preferences, and what feels right for your family.

Sometimes, the first step isn’t making a decision — it’s simply having a conversation.

📩 If you’re exploring care at home in Calgary, we’re here to share information and walk through options with you.

Some parts of care are easy to see.
Others are much quieter.

At the end of her shift, she gently tidies up the last few toys on the floor.
The child is asleep. The home feels calm again.

A few minutes later, the mother walks in — still in her work clothes, carrying the weight of a long day.

She pauses.

Not because anything is perfect.
But because everything feels… settled.

Her child is resting peacefully.
The space is clean.
The day has been held together.

They exchange a few simple updates —
what the child ate, when they napped, the little moments in between.

Nothing complicated.
Just clarity. Just care.

Before leaving, she takes one last look around —
making sure the evening ahead feels just a little easier.

The door closes softly.

Care doesn’t always look like something big.

Sometimes,
it’s knowing that someone showed up prepared,
paid attention, and made the day feel manageable again.

That’s what care should feel like at home. 💚

A safer home starts with small, thoughtful changes. 💚

When we visit families, it’s often the little things that matter most — the ones that are easy to miss day to day.

Here are a few simple ways to help elders stay safe and comfortable at home:
• Keep pathways clear
Avoid clutter like toys, loose rugs, or small items that could cause trips or falls.

• Add proper night lighting
Soft lighting in hallways, bedrooms, and bathrooms can prevent accidents during the night.

• Watch for mobility barriers
Steep steps, heavy doors, or hard-to-reach areas can make it difficult to move around — and over time, may lead to isolation.

• Install support where it matters
Grab bars, non-slip mats, and handrails can quietly add a layer of safety without changing the feeling of home.

• Stay connected, even in small ways
A short visit, a conversation, or simply having someone nearby can make a meaningful difference — not just physically, but emotionally too.

At HeartNest Care, we pay attention to these details every day — because safe care isn’t about big changes, it’s about how daily life feels at home.

If this is something your family is starting to think about, we’re always here to listen and share — at your own pace. 🤍

Care should feel simple, comfortable, and close to home 💚

At HeartNest Care, we’re there for individuals and families — right where they feel safest: at home.

Some days, it’s about supporting daily routines.
Some days, it’s simply being present for a conversation.
And sometimes, it means providing more hands-on care when it’s needed.

Every situation is different. That’s why we take the time to truly understand each person — and build care around what matters most to them.

✔ Care that fits your routine, not the other way around
✔ Reliable, kind caregivers you can count on
✔ Support that encourages independence and dignity

For families, it brings peace of mind.
For your loved ones, it means staying comfortable in a place they know and love.

If you’re starting to explore home care options in Calgary, feel free to reach out — we’re always here to talk things through with you.

Autism is part of human diversity.
When families receive the right support early, everything becomes a little clearer, calmer, and more manageable.

A truly meaningful morning with the Golden Age Association and HeartNest Care Inc. 💛

HeartNest Care had the opportunity to share helpful information with seniors about available support programs, including financial assistance for in-home care services.
Currently, about 95% of HeartNest Care clients receive government funding for these services.

We would like to sincerely thank nearly 50 members of the Golden Age Association for taking the time to attend today’s event, despite the snowy weather.

A big thank you as well to the HeartNest Care team for their thoughtful preparation and dedication in making this event run smoothly.
