Dr. Schlee and Amanda recently attended the AAMP Fall 2025 Conference on Advanced Integrative Oncology during the last weekend of October. It was dynamic conference that shed new light on the evolving understanding of the tumor microenvironment (TME) and its critical role in cancer progression and therapy. Key discussions highlighted the impact of various toxin (chemical, microbiological, and environmental) on cancer risk and outcomes. Sessions also emphasized the value of both primary and secondary prevention strategies and explored updates in therapeutic approaches. A major theme throughout the event was the growing importance of integrative oncological care, underscoring the need for a holistic, patient-centered model that bridges conventional and complementary therapies.

All topics and discussions were firmly grounded in current research, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based practice. We are energized to bring forward innovative, research-driven therapies and approaches informed by our ever-expanding understanding of cancer biology and patient care!

With 15 years of experience—most of it in the fast-paced Emergency Department—Amanda brings a deep well of knowledge, compassion, and calm to every patient she cares for. 🏥💙

After relocating from Quebec to Calgary in August 2024, she’s found her new home and is loving every moment of this exciting chapter. 🌄 Amanda is happily married to her wonderful husband of 6 years 💑, and together they have two beautiful daughters who keep life joyful and full of adventure. 👧👧

When she’s not at work, Amanda is all about creating family memories—whether it’s a fun day at Calaway Park, a trip to the zoo, or exploring the science center. 🦁🎢🔬 She loves being outdoors and making the most of every moment with her kids.

Amanda’s journey into holistic health began during her first pregnancy, sparking a deep passion for natural healing and herbal remedies 🌿. From brewing her own bone broths 🍲 to making homemade salves and exploring homeopathy, she’s always learning and growing—often with a good podcast in her ears! 🎧📚

With over 25 years of experience in client care and administration, Melanie brings unmatched dedication and warmth to our team. A proud Calgary native, she’s spent the majority of her career enhancing patient experiences and supporting healthcare teams to improve the quality of care. 🙂
Outside the clinic, Melanie is all about the great outdoors! ⛺️🌲 Whether she’s camping, hiking, or taking long walks, she loves soaking up nature. Family is her top priority, and she treasures spending quality time with her loved ones, especially her grand kids. 💕 An animal lover at heart, she also enjoys taking on DIY projects, often inspired by her favorite home improvement shows. 🛠️🐾

Interesting new developments in the realm of oncology! Still early days, but what a fascinating and potentially exciting new area of research!

A tumour-derived consortium of Proteus mirabilis and Rhodopseudomonas palustris eradicated diverse tumours in immunocompromised and immunocompetent animal models via thrombosis and necrosis, highlighting the therapeutic potential of tumour-resident bacteria.
