Joint pain is often explained as arthritis, inflammation, or wear and tear.

But in many cases, that’s only part of the picture.

Joints rely on surrounding structures — ligaments, tendons, and soft tissue — to guide movement, maintain stability, and distribute load effectively. When these systems aren’t functioning optimally, symptoms can persist, even when imaging appears relatively normal.

Understanding how a joint functions — not just how it looks — can change how care is approached.

A more detailed assessment can help clarify what’s contributing to symptoms and what options may be appropriate.

Joint pain is common — but the reasons behind it aren’t always the same.

Many people are told it’s simply wear and tear or inflammation. And while that can be part of the picture, it doesn’t always explain why symptoms persist.

Joints don’t function in isolation. They rely on ligaments, tendons, and surrounding structures to provide stability, guide movement, and manage load.

When these systems aren’t functioning well, irritation can continue — even when imaging appears normal.

In some cases, addressing joint stability can change how pain is managed.

If joint pain has been affecting your life, a more detailed assessment may help clarify your options.

“Normal” lab results don’t always reflect optimal health.
Reference ranges are designed to capture what is commonly seen across large populations, but they don’t always account for how well the body is functioning for a given individual.

Optimal ranges take a more health-focused view — considering where values may best support energy, clarity, and overall physiological balance.

This is why two people with results in the same “normal” range can feel very different.

Interpreting lab work in context — alongside symptoms, history, and patterns — often provides a more complete understanding of what may be influencing how you feel.

If you’re not feeling your best despite “normal” results, a more detailed review may help clarify next steps.

“Normal” lab results don’t always provide the full picture.

Reference ranges are designed to identify disease, but they don’t always reflect how well the body is functioning for a given individual.

When symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, or low energy persist, it can be helpful to look beyond whether values fall within range and consider how markers relate to one another, how they change over time, and how they align with your overall health picture.

Small shifts across multiple markers may not stand out in isolation — but together, they can provide additional insight.

A more complete understanding often comes from looking at the bigger picture.

Low energy, brain fog, or slower recovery aren’t always explained by routine testing alone.

In some cases, subtle imbalances in nutrient status, metabolism, digestion, or hormonal regulation can contribute to persistent symptoms — even when basic labs appear within standard ranges.

A comprehensive clinical assessment looks beyond isolated lab values.
It evaluates patterns, physiological relationships, and individual health history to better understand what may be influencing how you feel.

If symptoms are ongoing or unclear, deeper evaluation may help provide direction.

To explore whether advanced laboratory testing or clinical assessment may be appropriate for your situation, a consultation can help guide next steps. To learn more or to book, please visit the link in our bio.

Digestive discomfort is something many people experience.

Some symptoms are extremely common, such as:

• bloating
• gas
• abdominal discomfort
• irregular bowel habits

In some cases, these symptoms may reflect changes in digestion, the gut microbiome, inflammation, or nutrient absorption.

Understanding why symptoms occur can sometimes make a meaningful difference when it comes to improving digestive health.

Digestive testing may help clarify underlying patterns and provide a clearer picture of what may be contributing to persistent symptoms.

Digestive symptoms are extremely common — but their causes are not always simple.

Gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort, or changes in bowel habits can sometimes reflect underlying changes in the gut microbiome, digestion, or inflammation.

Your digestive system is home to trillions of bacteria, collectively known as the gut microbiome. These microorganisms play an important role in:

• nutrient absorption
• immune regulation
• metabolic function
• inflammatory balance

When the microbiome or digestive function shifts, symptoms can sometimes appear.

Understanding why symptoms occur is often the first step toward improving digestive health.

Persistent digestive symptoms are more common than many people realize.

Gas, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea can sometimes be linked to simple factors like diet or stress — but they may also reflect deeper issues involving digestion, the gut microbiome, or nutrient absorption.

Understanding why these symptoms occur is often the first step toward improving digestive health.

Over the coming posts this week, we’ll explore how digestive function influences overall health and why these symptoms can sometimes be more complex than they appear.

Persistent fatigue isn’t something you need to push through.

Low energy can have many contributing factors — including nutrient depletion, ongoing stress, or simply feeling run down over time.

Understanding what’s behind it matters.

Dr. Schlee and Amanda recently attended the AAMP Fall 2025 Conference on Advanced Integrative Oncology during the last weekend of October. It was dynamic conference that shed new light on the evolving understanding of the tumor microenvironment (TME) and its critical role in cancer progression and therapy. Key discussions highlighted the impact of various toxin (chemical, microbiological, and environmental) on cancer risk and outcomes. Sessions also emphasized the value of both primary and secondary prevention strategies and explored updates in therapeutic approaches. A major theme throughout the event was the growing importance of integrative oncological care, underscoring the need for a holistic, patient-centered model that bridges conventional and complementary therapies.

All topics and discussions were firmly grounded in current research, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based practice. We are energized to bring forward innovative, research-driven therapies and approaches informed by our ever-expanding understanding of cancer biology and patient care!
