📣 Heads up, beef producers and marketers — there’s a change coming to how check-off is collected in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Starting August 1, 2025, the check-off rate applied will be based on the seller’s province of residence, not the province where the sale takes place. That means the check-off will now follow the seller—bringing more fairness and consistency across provincial borders.
🧾 Example:
If a Saskatchewan producer sells cattle into Alberta, Saskatchewan’s rate will now apply. If an Alberta producer sells into Saskatchewan, Alberta's rate will apply.
This update helps ensure every province receives the right funds to invest back into their own producers and programs.
✅ Make sure your remittance systems are updated.
🗓️ Effective August 1
