🎉 Exciting Update for Clients with Pacific Blue Cross! 🎉
As of July 11, 2025, Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) in BC are now able to submit claims directly to Pacific Blue Cross.
This means that individuals with eligible plans will no longer need to pay out-of-pocket and wait for reimbursement — removing a major barrier to care for thousands of British Columbians. This update has the potential to make an immediate and lasting impact as people can access care faster and more affordably.
Pacific Blue Cross has shared that this change is part of their ongoing commitment to removing barriers and expanding access to mental health support. I am so grateful to see this progress and recognition of the essential role RCCs play in BC’s mental health system.

In addition to Pacific Blue Cross, I can also accommodate direct-billing many other insurance/benefits providers through TELUS eClaims (and depending on your plan coverage). If you are unsure whether your plan covers counselling with an RCC, I am happy to help you check your eligibility before your first appointment.

✨ Thank you for your continued trust and support.

🌿✨ Welcome, Mon, to Serenity Shores Wellness Centre! ✨🌿

We are so excited to introduce Mon, who is now offering authentic Thai massage here at Serenity Shores.

Here’s a little about her, in her own words:

"Hello! My name is Mon. I’m originally from Thailand and have been living in Canada since 2014. Although I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for many years, my true passion is Thai massage therapy.
I began my training at a traditional Thai massage school in northern Thailand, where I learned ancient healing techniques. Since then, I’ve gained hands-on experience at several clinics, helping people relieve pain, tension, and stress. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than seeing clients leave a session feeling relaxed and refreshed.
One day, I hope to open my own studio to share the benefits of authentic Thai massage with others. Whether it's relieving chronic pain, improving movement, or simply providing a moment of calm, I’m dedicated to supporting others on their wellness journey.
I’m always happy to connect with clients and others who value natural healing. Let’s take a step toward better well-being together."

If you’re looking for a holistic way to reduce tension, relieve pain, or simply restore your sense of calm, book a session with Mon and experience the healing benefits of Thai massage.

🌿 Mental Health Matters 🌿

Did you know that mental health challenges affect 1 in 5 Canadians each year, including many right here in beautiful British Columbia? Whether it’s anxiety, depression, stress, or a combination of factors, the mental health of individuals and communities is something we all need to prioritize.

✨ The State of Mental Health in BC:

Rising Stress & Anxiety: With the pressures of modern life, many in BC are facing increased levels of stress and anxiety, whether from work, family, or broader societal challenges.

Mental Health Resources: BC offers various support services, including counseling, therapy, and crisis support, but many still feel unsure about where to turn for help.

Youth & Mental Health: Mental health concerns are particularly significant among youth, with many teens and young adults experiencing increased stress, depression, and identity struggles.

🌈 What You Can Do:

Recognize the Signs: Symptoms like constant fatigue, isolation, trouble concentrating, or feelings of hopelessness are common signs of mental health issues.

Reach Out for Help: There’s no shame in asking for support. Whether it’s talking to a therapist, connecting with a helpline, or speaking with a loved one, help is available.

Take Care of Your Mind: Mental wellness is just as important as physical health. Regular self-care, talking openly, and practicing mindfulness can make a difference.

📞 Resources for BC Residents:

BC Crisis Line: 1-800-784-2433 (available 24/7)

Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868

Foundry BC: Free mental health and substance use services for young people across the province

💚 Together, We Can Break the Stigma:
Mental health struggles are common, and there’s no need to face them alone. Let’s create a compassionate, open community where mental wellness is prioritized and supported.

🧠 If you're feeling overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out. Your mental health matters!

We would like to feature our compassionate and dedicated student counsellor, Crystal!

To connect with Crystal, call or text 250-204-7417 or email crystal.serenityshores@outlook.com. You can also book directly at: https://serenityshores.janeapp.com/ #/staff_member/2

Crystal is offering a promotional rate of $100/hour and $50/half-hour until August 2025 while she is finishing the final months of her schooling.

Born and raised in Campbell River, BC, Crystal has deep roots in the community and a heartfelt commitment to supporting others in their wellness journey. For the past six years, she has operated a home-based daycare, gaining rich experience working with children of all ages. This hands-on work with children and families, combined with her personal experiences as a mother of four, ignited a passion for mental health advocacy and led her to pursue counselling as a career.

Crystal is currently a student counsellor with Stenberg College, set to graduate in August 2025, and is accepting new clients in-person at Serenity Shores Wellness Centre, or virtually anywhere in British Columbia. Her decision to enter the counselling field was inspired by the long wait times her own children experienced when seeking support. This fuelled her desire to be part of the solution—to help bridge the gap in mental health care and provide timely, compassionate support to children, youth, and families in need.

While her original focus was working with children and youth, Crystal has found fulfillment working with a wide range of clients, including individuals and couples. She currently practices from a person-centred approach and integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness interventions.

Crystal plans to become a registered member with both the CPCA (RPC-C) and ACCT (RTC-C) after graduation. She is also committed to ongoing professional development, with future training interests in Art Therapy, Attachment-Based Interventions, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Crystal’s warm presence, lived experience, and strong desire to walk alongside clients in their healing make her a valuable and trusted support for those navigating life’s challenges.
