Today I set up my new electric water fountain โ and oh my goodness, the gentle trickling sound is so relaxing. โจ๐ง
And to make it even cozier, Iโve got my wax warmer going with a delicious coffee & caramel scent. โ๏ธ๐ฎ
My home officially feels like a little peaceful sanctuary today. ๐ฅฐ๐
I have to share this little story with you.
While in Langley, BC, we visited a small mom-and-pop store. As I was wandering around looking at kitchen items and candles, I suddenly caught the scent of flavoured coffee. Instantly, I was taken back 41 years โ to when Peter and I first met. He always had these flavoured coffees, and there was one in particular we both lovedโฆ a hazelnut-caramel kind of aroma.
The scent in the store was so strong that I stopped in my tracks. A clerk walked by, and I asked if they were brewing flavoured coffee in the back. She said no, but pointed out that it might be the wax melts on a nearby display โ only about four feet away.
We walked over, she picked up one package, and the moment I smelled it, I knew: that was the scent. I decided right then I had to buy it. Of course, that meant getting the little warmer to go with it too. The melts were $12.49 each, or three for $10 each, so I went back to the display for a look to get more.
This display was huge โ both sides filled, row upon row with maybe 300 packages in total. Cinnamon, apple, vanilla, spicesโฆ but not a single other coffee scent. Not one. Just that lone package. And those other scents were strong โ no way a single little coffee-scented melt should have overpowered all of them.
As I chatted with the clerk while paying, I mentioned Peterโฆ and suddenly it hit me. This was the only coffee scent there, yet it was the one I smelled so clearly across the store.
I looked at her and said, โI think that was my husband nudging me โ making sure I smelled it so Iโd remember a happy moment from when we first met 41 years ago. A little Christmas gift from heaven.โ
