Hey everyone! Happy Earth Day! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter weekend. Lots of sunshine and chocolate, right?

But guess what? Earth Day is here! We had such lovely weather during Easter weekend; let’s celebrate it with Earth Day.

Earth, you’re amazing! You go around and around all day, all night, 24/7, 365 (sometimes even 366!). You really put in the effort.

Every morning the birds are up at ungodly hours chirping away. I swear when they see me coming out with the blue recycling bin they chirp Angel of the Morning by Juice Newton.

Thank you… I know… I’m a saint. Thank you very much.

Phew! Good thing I separate rubbish and recycling, hey.

Anyway, cheers to being the right distance from the sun and having the right attributes to have a hospitable environment for all of us.

Let’s all go enjoy the UV Index of 5 this afternoon! Maybe even 6?

Hey folks, christmas is nigh and holiday plans are too. Don’t forget to stop by the clinic for all the bits n’ bobs and your hearing aid cleaning! We wouldn’t want you to miss hearing the christmas cheering and the quiet night time low under the candle lit glow.

As you can see Anna and Ben were hard at work last week spiffing up the office and bringing in that festive feeling! Martin, Jana and I are at the 100 Mile House Clinic getting everyone here ready for their holidays, but can’t wait to get back to HQ and see it for our selves! Next stop - Port McNeill!

Today, you can tell we're shifting into the fall season here on Van Isle; it is getting foggy again. I was looking out into the fog this morning, drinking my coffee, which made me think. Fog is like having hearing loss. You can see in the fog, but it's hard to make out details at a distance, which can be challenging to navigate. Hearing loss is very similar that way. It's not that you can't hear anything, but it can be hard to make out the "details" in speech or navigate through conversation. It makes speech sound "foggy," "unclear," or "hazy." And just like fog, hearing loss has variable degrees. For some, it can be that thick fog where you think, "Should I still be driving?" or "Did I miss my street?" and others may just think, "Where is the lighthouse on Quadra?". If you feel like this, come see us and take advantage of our free hearing test! Having your hearing evaluation explained to you can actually be interesting and doesn't hurt!

This is Max. He’s our newest recruit. He’s only been working his part-time position for a little over a year and a half now, so he is still learning the system around here. Little buddy really likes people and his dried yams. Usually he’ll greet you with either a ball, chew-stick, or dinosaur in his mouth.

His schedule is limited as he always sleeping at home or frolicking in the woods. His primary role at the office is to learn polite manners and to be calm when greeting clients who want to be greeted by him. If you’re not a fan of dogs, feel free to let us know, and we’ll take him for a walk or keep him busy while you’re in!
