It was on December 7, 1980, a mere 45 years ago, that the new location of Sutton's Campbell River Funeral Home at 502 S. Dogwood Street, was dedicated by members of the Executive of the Campbell River & District Ministerial Association

Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Mu***os) is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2. It is a time for celebrating death and life where mourning is exchanged for celebration.

This two-day holiday reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (offerings) to honour their departed family members that have passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed and the favourite foods and drinks of the one being honoured. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations!

Besides the holidays, December brings with it the shortest and darkest day of the year.
