HouseOfLife Bayit Chayim:

Young expectant mothers in Israel who need help due to an unanticipated pregnancy currently do not have a place to go. We need you! Toda Raba !

Bayit Chayim was founded in 2004 by Caroline Oostrom & the late Sandy Stern (who also founded Canadians Against Anti-Semitism) in response to a deplorable lack of suitable maternity & infant care for young expectant mothers and their children in Israel. Bayit Chayim’s has partnered with Be'ad Chaim, a registered Israeli non-profit Humanitarian Organization providing services like education, information, on-going emotional help and counseling for these young expectant mothers in Israel as they prepare for the birth of their baby. We are also helping 450 mothers and babies with tangible and practical help like alternative housing during pregnancies, baby supplies such as crib, stroller, baby bath, baby carrier, and cloths for their infants including formula and diapers. Your support will positively impact not only the lives of young expectant mothers in Israel, but Israeli society in general. House of Life's partnership with Be'ad Chaim allows donors and sponsors here in Canada to provide for these babies that would have otherwise been aborted. Our vision is to promote the growth of the Jewish population, ensuring that Israel's security and culture will be present for many generations to come. Canadians can make a direct impact on the future of Israel! Partner with us by leaving a legacy that promotes "Inner Aliyah" within Israel. Say Yes to investing in the future of Israel.

President Report for 2024
With this report the doors of Bayit Chayim - House of Life will officially close its doors.
It was established in September of 2009 by the late Sandy Stern and Caroline Oostrom-Best.
Over the 14 years, Bayit Chayim has donated more than $33,000 CDN to Be'ad Chaim in Israel.
We are satisfied that in the last 14 years, we have been able to grow the future of Israel child by
child through our Israel partner Be’ad Chaim, a registered Israeli non-profit Humanitarian
Organization, who is dedicated to the protection of mothers and unborn children.
Your faithful contribution to Bayit Chayim in Canada helped provide services like education,
information, on-going emotional help and counseling for these young expectant mothers in Israel
as they prepare for the birth of their baby. It also provided tangible and practical help like
alternative housing during pregnancy, baby supplies such as crib, stroller, baby bath, baby carrier,
and cloths for their infants including formula and diapers.
With a grateful heart, we say thank you for your support.

In this season of Rosh Hashanah, remembering creation, I am reminded of Genesis 1:2 where the Bible says that the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters and then God spoke.

His Spirit and His word are one! We need the Holy Spirit just as we need the Word. He is our teacher, our counselor, our friend, our present help. Lord I am so grateful that You have given us access to the throne room where Your Spirit makes your word even more real to us. Continue to order our steps and teach us how to be good hosts of Your Spirit. Guide our thoughts, our words and actions.

Fb fam may the Spirit of the Lord give you wisdom and understanding to navigate through this chaotic world. We need His instruction. We need the Lord’s word to be the lamp unto our feet and the light to our path.

Amen

“Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man. He had not consented to their decision and deed.” (Luke 23:50).

We know from the gospels that Joseph was a wealthy member of the Sanhedrin, something like a Member of Parliament or a congressman. He was a secret disciple who waited for the Kingdom of God, yet feared the other leaders. Despite his apprehension and position, he didn’t agree with the policy of his government, so he TOOK ACTION. By going to Pilate and asking permission to bury the body of the Lord Jesus, Joseph proved himself to be brave, practical, pro-active, and willing to risk his life and reputation for what—THE ONE—he believed. The Israeli government permits and finances abortions through our National Health insurance using tax payers’ shekels. We do not agree!
WE TAKE ACTION. Through media and contacts with social workers, we reach out to women in crisis pregnancy so that we can protect both the mothers and the babies emotionally and practically. As we enter the Jewish New Year, we look back at the number of women who contacted us from September 2022 until the end of June: 2059 women phoned or visited our offices for help or with questions. 981 women were looking for an abortion. Out of these nearly one thousand women, 602 women agreed to meet with their local counselor to discuss their options. Thankfully, 310 of these abortion-minded women who met with the counselors chose life! 164 aborted. Nearly 200 women who were ambivalent about abortion, likely to carry to term but wavering, also contacted us. We financially supported over 60 very needy women who were referred to us by social workers shortly after their births. We lost contact with some of the other women before we heard their final decision. Sometimes, there are women who phone us several months later to let us know that they are still pregnant. Remarkably, 48% of the women whom we helped are married. Many of our mothers tell us that financial concerns are their primary motivator to abort. For this reason, this year Operation Moses Project, which supplies all the baby’s material needs for a full year, has been able to save a whopping 616 babies! We are deeply grateful to have been able to save all of these lives through your participation with us. Thank you for being a joyful giver. May God bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work (1 Corinthians 9).

President's Report For 2023 AGM
A non-publicized fundraiser took place this past year to see if it would be worthwhile pursuing. Calendars were requested from Be'ad Chayim in Israel and “sold” with the proceeds going toward our gift to Be'ad Chayim. The monthly pictures were of 12 of the children whose parents choose life for them. We made $600 from these calendars. The most important activity the friends of Bayit Chayim – House of Life and Be'ad Chaim can do is pray for Be'ad Chaim and all the lives they come in contact with.
Since I have been on the Board, I have seen Be'ad Chaim grow from 5 to over 25 counselors. They now have offices all throughout Israel and are able to provide their support to many, many women, children and families. Over the next few years, we will slowly be phasing out Bayit Chayim – House of Life.
We have run the race that G-d has set before us. Through the generous donations since 2016, we have been able to give Be'ad Chaim $3,000 CDN each year.
Thank you to all that have been a part of Bayit Chayim – House Life. Thank you for your donations, your prayers and your physical support.
Growing the future of Israel, child by child.

Once a year, for every beautiful soul on this planet, we get to celebrate them for being here, with us. This celebration is their birthday, the day they joined the rest of us on Earth.
And what a blessing it is to be grateful for all, for who they are, what they do for all of us.
How their love and messages and support holds us when we need it most.
We celebrate others because they help us to realise how much boundless love exists in this world, no matter how many challenges exist in it.
And with it, we all have an opportunity to make it a better world. In the way we are called to do.
My only encouragement for all is to follow the path that you were created to do. Move continually in that direction as that is what you are called to do. No matter where you are today, just take steps in that direction.
It means take action and see what next steps light up in front of your walk.
Thank you for being you, whenever your birthday is, I celebrate you.
With love and blessings flowing from my heart to yours,
🙏🏻

Hagar, an Egyptian maid, a woman with no power or status, had the privilege of a visitation by God and the realization that God saw her suffering (Genesis 16). She called Him “El-Roi” - the God who sees me. In the midst of her pain and struggles, Hagar received God's blessing and promises. Rejected by her husband, alone and afraid, God saw her. God met her in the desert of her life. God told her to return, to continue, to remain in a difficult situation but promised a future for her child. The circumstances did not change, but Hagar had been given hope. So it is for our moms – God sees each one. God is waiting to meet each one and has a purpose and a calling for every child. Our God is THE GOD WHO SEES.
“We must be triumphant exactly where we are. It is not a change of climate we need, but a change of heart. The flesh wants to run away, but God wants to demonstrate His power exactly where we have known our greatest chagrin” (Donald Barnhouse).
Thank you for partnering with us to bring hope to women in crisis.

Serving women in crisis pregnancies and helping them choose life for their babies can be a daunting task and often feels like a steep uphill climb. I am deeply thankful to God for our dedicated team that has been able to save nearly a thousand babies this year. As we enter 2023, we take a look back at this past, very busy year:
- 725 babies were born in 2022 and 191 babies currently in the womb will be born in the coming months.
On average, 110 women speak with one of our counselors each month. 52% of these are either seeking an abortion or are considering one. More than 40% of those who sought an abortion chose life for their baby. 50% of the women speak with our hotline counselors and are then referred to their local counselors. 30% find us through friends or family and 24% find us on Google. 16% are returning mothers who received our help with a previous baby.
45% of the women who turned to us are married. 25% of the women are no longer in contact with the father of the baby and 7% of the fathers don’t even know about the pregnancy.
50% of the women finished high school with no higher education. 33% of the women are employed, 28 % have no income and 20% get unemployment or a disability allowance from the government, having an average income ranging between 2600-5000 shekels ($750-$1,400) per month.

Reasons most mentioned for wanting to abort:
-Financial situation (48%)
-Not married to the father of the baby (30%)
-No emotional support (21%)
-Fear (21%)
-No steady relationship with the father or in the process of divorce (18%)
-Too young or not ready to become a mother (18%)
-Not the right time to have a baby (17%)

As I reviewed our files from the outset of the Operation Moses Project in 2006 and the 3725 babies that have finished the program, I thought about those “babies” who are now 15+ years old. One of the moms, Larissa, had become one of our counselors and her daughter, 9th grader Anat, visited the office last week with her classmates from the local Messianic school Makor Hatikva. What a joy to remember the part that Be’ad Chaim had in transforming Larissa’s life and in bringing Anat into the world. We are so very thankful for every life that has been saved through our Operation Moses Project throughout the years, and bless you for your partnership with us. We thank the Lord for His abundant blessings through your love and His mercy.

Blessing you with a grace-filled 2023!
