There are some people who leave such a profound mark that they shape an entire community. Pat Grayling was one of those people for the Canmore Hospital Foundation, for the hospital, and for all of Canmore.

Simply saying “thank you” could never fully capture what Pat gave over decades of quiet, steadfast, and heartfelt service. She wasn’t just a volunteer or a leader, she was a friend, a mentor, and a constant presence who made every space kinder, calmer, and more connected simply by being there.

In this story, we’ve tried to offer a small window into the breadth of Pat’s contributions, her spirit of generosity, and the legacy she leaves behind at the Canmore Hospital and across the Bow Valley. We were honoured to welcome Judy and Herman Cooper for a tour of the Cancer Care unit at Canmore General Hospital.

Judy and Herman are long-time, deeply committed supporters of the Canmore Hospital Foundation, and their generosity has made a meaningful and lasting impact across our hospital. Their support of the Cancer Care Program, along with their continued investment in the Foundation’s Scholarship Program, plays an important role in strengthening both patient care and the future of healthcare in our community.

Beyond their financial contributions, Judy and Herman are true champions of the hospital. Judy serves on the Scholarship Committee and is an avid volunteer, while Herman brings comfort and joy to long-term care residents through his love of music and singing.

Their ongoing support is essential as we continue to provide compassionate, high-quality cancer care close to home. Because of donors like the Coopers, patients and families in the Bow Valley can access care where it matters most, in their own community.

We’re excited to share that the Canmore Hospital Foundation received $77,526.30 through the 2025 Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink program. This is an incredible boost for local health care, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank you to Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink for helping us stretch every donation further. Through their matching program, all contributions were matched up to 50%, which means donor dollars had an even bigger impact right here in the Bow Valley.

Most of all, thank you to every donor who chose to support the Foundation through Birdies for Kids this year. Your generosity, combined with the strength of this matching program, is helping us deliver better care and stronger support for patients and families at the Canmore General Hospital.

This passionate group donates endless time and talent to our community, and we couldn't be more grateful.

We are pleased to welcome Renée Krysko as the new Executive Director of the Canmore Hospital Foundation.

Renée is passionate about people, community, and connection, values that align beautifully with the Foundation’s mission of building a healthier community together. She brings vision, vibrance, and thoughtful leadership to strengthen local healthcare, deepen community engagement, and inspire generosity across the Bow Valley.

Renée joins us after 15 years with the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, where she advanced from Communications Manager to Director of Donor Relations. Her work there centred on building strong partnerships, inspiring giving through meaningful storytelling, and uniting people around shared purpose. She is excited to bring that same commitment to nurturing a healthy, connected community here at home.

Her career began in the tourism world, where she spent nearly a decade designing and leading cycling tours through France, the Canadian Rockies, and across Europe. Whether guiding a group or guiding a mission, her goal has always been the same: to create experiences that connect people to place and to one another.

Born and raised in Alberta, Renée is grounded by the mountains she calls home. She finds inspiration in skiing, dancing, cycling, and the reminder that well-being is something we cultivate together. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Foundation and look forward to the future we will continue to build for local healthcare, healthy families, and a healthy community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural Sisterhood Summit. More than 130 guests came together in support of women’s health, raising over fifty thousand dollars for advanced equipment and compassionate care for women and families across the Bow Valley. The event also marked the launch of the Women’s Health Circle, a new donor community committed to closing the women’s health gap and ensuring exceptional care close to home.

The afternoon was filled with connection, inspiration, and purpose, and the momentum created in that room is already helping move vital projects forward. We are deeply grateful to Level III NDT Inc. for presenting this important event, and to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and local business who contributed to its success.
