This is a good friend of our family. A heartbreaking story of how although we may or may not contract covid, it most definitely is impacting us all. I can’t imagine having a family member in the hospital knowing they have a terminal illness and not being allowed to be with them. Worse yet to be there myself all alone with no family at my side. Then add to that knowing that your family will need to continue on after the financial devastation of your passing. I remember as a young boy when my dad got sick and had open heart surgery, dad couldn’t work, mom couldn’t work. Dad was in the hospital months at the brink of death and we still had a farm to run. I was only 14, crops, irrigation, cattle. Our friends, family, and community jumped in. They helped with the farm, they collected donations for the family (the original -Go Fund Me, a coffee can). I remember the very day when dad had just gotten out of the hospital and the donation jar was dropped off. I watched as dad removed the lid, as he looked inside his eyes filled with tears, tears of gratitude and love. In that moment my dad knew he was NOT alone, his family was loved.
Sure it was only money, but so much more. It represented a little freedom from the financial burdens felt so deeply. A chance to just focus on our little family and be together.
It is my hope and prayer that in some small way we can lift this burden for Myron. So he can spend this time focussed on his wife and family rather than the worry of financial burden. Please join with me in giving whatever you can. This is a worthy cause and a deserving family.
