Community feedback is important to us. In our ongoing commitment to transparency, we have been continuously monitoring and testing the water quality of the new Moses Lake Public Water Supply.

Effective immediately and until further notice, a Boil Water Advisory has been issued for this system.

Our Environmental Public Health Services team is issuing this precautionary advisory due to low levels of disinfection residual entering the distribution system.

Recent water sample results also revealed that naturally occurring minerals are exceeding the Aesthetic Objectives in the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.

These elevated minerals are not currently considered a health risk but are likely causing noticeable issues such as taste problems, staining, and potential scaling in appliances and plumbing. Elevated minerals may also interact with the chlorine, making it difficult for operations to maintain adequate disinfection residuals.

Our Community Health team will be distributing this advisory information to all affected houses and buildings. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders to provide public health support and ongoing monitoring and testing of the water quality.

If you have questions regarding this precautionary boil water advisory or further water testing, please email: Harpreet Singh Gill Indigenous Services Canada Environmental Public Health Officer at harpreetsingh.gill@sac-isc.gc.ca

Taking care of your feet is an extremely important and essential part of managing diabetes. High blood sugar levels over time can damage your nerves and reduce blood flow, leading to serious complications that can start small but quickly escalate.

Diabetic foot ulcers are open sores or wounds that are slow to heal and are the most common reason for diabetes-related hospitalization. Untreated ulcers can become deeply infected.

Luckily, our Wound Care Program is here to help! If you need support in foot care, please contact the Levern Wound Care Program Nurse Amanda Sowiak at 403-737-8610.

Our BTDH Environmental Public Health team has provided an update regarding the current water quality and regulatory compliance status of the new Moses Lake Public Water System.

Based on recent bacteriological and chemical analyses, the New Moses Lake Public Water Supply meets all parameters of the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines. The water is microbiologically safe, and key chemical parameters are maintained at levels well below regulatory limits.

The bottom line: your water is safe to drink.
