Have you heard talk of this being a time of loss? Of grieving?

Last week a pregnant mama said to me: “I am grieving the loss of the midwifery experience I had with you with my last pregnancy.”

Me too.

We are grieving too. Our job looks unspeakably different than it did before.

I also heard this week: “COVID is a moment, but these birth memories are forever.”

Your midwives are here to hold space for you while you navigate this strange and unusual time. We are all in this together.

Today I am lighting a candle in our little clinic room to pay homage to the feeling of loss that we are all experiencing right now.

I am here for you.
