Amy Schaefer Clinical Hypnotherapist

Amy Schaefer Clinical Hypnotherapist My name is Amy, I bring a wealth of experience and passion to what I do. I focus on helping women who experience chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

Having consistently been dedicated to helping others, hypnotherapy was a natural progression in my career. My experiences through out University (Kinesiology and Athletic Therapy) and over seventeen plus years in massage therapy guide my belief that we must treat body and mind as a whole. If you have:
- had sleeping problems
- find you are often in relationships (partner, friend, family or work) that do not honour your needs
- tend to feel responsible for someone else’s disappointment and/or discouragement
- have a hard time asking for help
- have boundary problems
- tend to isolate yourself and/or put others needs above your own
- often feel uncertain, have a hard time making decisions, or acting to achieve your goals
- have aches and pains that appear to have no obvious medical reasoning or are diagnosed and yet pain management or progression to heal is slow…
Past trauma may be wreaking havoc on your body. With use of somatic components (emotional response patterns that have a bodily feeling) and clinical hypnotherapy I can guide you to a place of clearer vision and allow you understanding of what you have been through and where you are headed. It is my passion to allow everyone an opportunity to heal and be able to move forward in the direction of their desires with freedom and certainty.

We can develop patterns that allow us to believe that what’s in the past in some way has no effect on us any more. The reality is that our subconscious holds on to old emotions that haven’t been processed completely, and they will come out later in life when we least expect or understand it.

How you feel after spending time with people is of huge importance. Our bodies continue to send us warning signals that we can often ignore or even perceive as weakness in ourselves depending on our childhood patterns.we can shift to healthier relationships once we start to notice these patterns!

This is something that is difficult to notice never mind shift from. If you have a tendency to over explain, there is a reason, it may be a response to hard things in your past. These are deep rooted in the subconscious and hypnotherapy can help.

Yaaaasss!!

It can be hard to accept that what once worked for us, for who we used to be, no longer does.

The other night in class my students and I talked about how as women we go through so many transitions and changes that require us to become someone new.

Often when women get depressed or anxious it's because of the resistance to growth and change, the resistance to becoming someone new. Who they were doesn't fit who they are now. The kids have moved out, they've aged and the world views them differently now, their romantic relationships didn't last as long as they thought, you get the idea. Heck, this may even be about you.

We have to experience growth til the day we die and that means letting go, feeling afraid, and rebecoming someone new.

In session I often get asked if old wounds will be brought up. They don’t need to be, it’s important to know where the feelings come from but discussing details isn’t important, for that matter retelling of the ‘story’ over and over anchors it more. I work with the subconscious, and it cares not about details, only about feelings.

I’ve been in that place myself. The one where I don’t want to bother anyone, or I can handle this, or it’s not that bad or etc etc. the people who love us know when we hurt and want to help. WE ARE SOCIAL BEINGS!!! everyone needs a support system. I can be a part of that. One step moves you forward no matter how big!!

My background is in the science of the human body, my approach to healing comes from that starting point with experiences in massage therapy, the educational system, my own life experiences, and the knowledge of what hypnotherapy was and is able to do for me and my diverse clientele.
