Big news! I’m excited to share that I’m expanding my practice to include Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN-P) alongside counselling next spring. This means supporting clients by addressing both the emotional and physiological sides of healing. My latest blog post explores how trauma impacts the body and how bridging this gap using a functional diagnostic approach can make lasting change possible.

Discover how Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) addresses trauma’s impact on the body, bridging mental health and physiology.

According to experts, the most common reason couples fall out of love and stop being sexually intimate is because of a pursuer-distancer dynamic that develops over time.

John Gottman’s research on thousands of couples reveals that partners who get stuck in this pattern in the first few years of marriage have more than an 80 percent chance of divorcing in the first four or five years.

*Takeaway message* Couples who spend at least thirty minutes daily in conversation with each other and express love, affection, and admiration will foster a closer bond and thrive both in and out of the sheets.

Read the dialogue section for examples on how to address this dynamic in positive ways

While all couples need autonomy and closeness, many partners struggle with the pursuer-distancer dance and feel chronically dissatisfied with their degree of intimacy. When the pattern of pursuing and distancing becomes ingrained, the behavior of one partner provokes and maintains the behavior of th...

A deeper look into our anger reactions

How can we help clients express their anger more effectively?

It begins by helping them understand how anger is triggered, and what happens in the body and brain – especially when anger is chronic or unprocessed.

So we thought it would be helpful for you to have a way to illustrate this for your clients.

The topic of eating disorders has come up several times in sessions over the last few weeks so I thought I'd address it a little here. I'm sure many of us have noticed food is playing a different role in our lives these days...perhaps an increase in the number or size of meals consumed per day? I personally have noticed myself eating more at night which has an effect on sleeping, mood, motivation etc.
This UK based article has some good points to keep in mind if you are battling with a pre-existing eating disorder, or if you are noticing your eating has gotten more out of control since being isolated. Remember, eating disorders often begin with an individual trying to gain control over their life when other aspects are feeling out of control.

I also wanted to link people to a free online anonymous support system https://oa.org/what-to-expect/ . As isolation can fuel many of our unhealthy coping mechanisms, this could be a way of staying connected and accountable while we get through these times. Sending lots of love to everyone, and please reach out if you are in need of help

With fear and anxiety creeping in from all parts of the world, it is a good time to take stock of our reactions and responses to other people and ourselves. I had a young client ask me last week, “What is emotional maturity? How do I know what to look for?” - a lovely question that opened up a valuable conversation between us - and a pause for thought for me. Of course no one is perfect at this...I’ve had my fair share of cringeworthy reactions I’m not proud of!
We all have a child mind that, at times, can remain stubborn/stuck in moments of distress. The important thing is to be aware of what we are striving towards, admit our learning edges and lean into them. This pandemic could easily divide us, but what I’ve noticed is people around here have become more compassionate, more flexible, more understanding. This is a moment to model introspection, self-regulation, respect, and loving kindness to those who are still learning those skills. We are in this together and my heart goes out to everyone struggling right now

You realise that most of the bad behaviour of other people really comes down to fear and anxiety - rather than, as it is generally easier to presume, nastiness or idiocy. You loosen your hold on self-righteousness and stop thinking of the world as populated by either monsters or fools. It makes thin

Studio is closed - I am still seeing one-on-one clients and also doing phone sessions when needed ❤️ Take good care, everyone.

Temporary Studio Closure :
Warmest Greetings in these uncertain times,

It is after much deliberation and tender hearts that we close the studio for public classes and events until March 31st, at which time we will reassess the evolving COVID-19 situation.

We are first and foremost, a wellness space, where we strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for everyone. We will continue to support you from the comfort of your homes via a few of our regular scheduled classes live and online. We will take the next couple of days to set-up the digital platform so that we may still practice yoga & meditation together, for it is at times like this when these practices and traditions can keep us rooted and embodied in authenticity, wellness & grace.

We are planning to use a digital platform that will enable you to connect with other students in their homes before starting and right after a class, much like in our studio - which we know is a time of great value for many of our community members: more information to follow in the coming days - so stay tuned!

Please feel free to reach-out to us via email or social media, we would love to hear from you!
We are here for you & yours -- stay well, stay bright!

In much love,
Clare Kearney + Danielle Hachey
