As my practice continues to grow, I’m deeply grateful for the steady flow of wonderful clients who’ve placed their trust in our work together. With growth, I’ve also been learning more about the business side of things — including taxes, paperwork, and regulations.

I was preparing to begin charging GST/HST, but recently learned that as of 2024, eligible practitioners in BC are exempt. What a relief! This change allows me to continue offering services without additional fees, while keeping my focus where it belongs — supporting my clients and their wellbeing.

How this change came about:
In 2024, the federal government updated Canada’s tax laws to recognize counselling and psychotherapy as essential health-care services. This made them exempt from GST/HST, bringing mental-health care in line with other regulated health professions. It’s a wonderful step toward making support more affordable and accessible.
