DAIGLE (MC ALEER), Frances
(1935-2026)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances (McAleer) Daigle, at the age of 91. Born in Montreal to Gerald and Dorothy McAleer, preceded in death by sisters Margaret, Dorthy and Kathleen, survived by her loving twin Geraldine (William). Frances grew up with humble beginnings that shaped her into the grounded, generous, and fiercely loving woman she became.
At just fourteen years old, Frances met the love of her life, William “Bill” Daigle, beginning a love story that would span more than seventy-three years of marriage starting in 1952. Together, they built a life defined not by material abundance, but by the richness of family, hard work, shared dreams, and a devotion to each other that never wavered.
Frances was the cherished mother of Lynn (François), Karen, and Lori (Jim), who were the center of her world. Her pride extended joyfully into the next generations: her grandchildren Lance (Jen), Jared (Val), Clayton (Jenny), and Chase (Ronilda), and her great grandchildren Landyn, Kaia, Vanessa, Tristan and William, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
A homemaker throughout her life, Frances was truly the heart of the family. She had a gift for making any house feel warm, safe, and full of love. Whether through a lovingly prepared meal, a gentle word, or her sometimes awkward (and hilarious!) expressions she always made sure everyone felt cared for. Her infectious laugh could brighten any room, and her selflessness was woven into everything she did.
Frances and Bill worked tirelessly to give their family experiences that became treasured memories—sun soaked days at the cottage on Lac Simon, and winter escapes spent basking in the ocean breeze of New Smyrna Beach. These places became havens of joy, connection, and belonging, touched forever by her presence.
She was an unwavering protector of her family, loving without condition and standing up for those she cherished with a quiet but powerful strength. In every sense, Frances embodied a life lived simply and honestly—uncomplicated but profoundly meaningful. She taught, by example, that a full life is not measured in grand gestures, but in everyday acts of love, steadiness, and kindness.
Frances leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape her family for generations: a legacy of warmth, devotion, laughter, and the incomparable gift of knowing what it feels like to be truly loved. She will be deeply, deeply missed, and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
