Less is best

You can reduce your drinking in steps! Remember, any reduction helps lower your health risks. Every little bit counts.

There are simple things that can help you drink at a level that’s right for you:

Stick to the limits you’ve set for yourself.

Drink slowly.

Drink lots of water.

For every drink of alcohol, have one non-alcoholic drink.

Consider alcohol-free or low-alcohol beverages.

Eat before and while you’re drinking.

Explore alcohol-free weeks or do alcohol-free activities.

If you're concerned about your drinking, take a look at some of the programs and services available here:

Season’s Greetings from Health PEI!

As we celebrate this festive season, we encourage everyone to prioritize well-being, safety, and community support.

The holidays can be joyful, but they can also bring stress and loneliness for some. Here are a few reminders to help us all care for ourselves and each other:

• Practice self-care: Take time to rest, eat well, and engage in activities that bring you peace and happiness.

• Check in on loved ones: A simple call or visit can make a big difference, especially for those who may be feeling isolated or overwhelmed.

• Access mental health resources: If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Call 1-833-553-6983 (toll-free)

• Show gratitude to frontline healthcare workers: Their dedication keeps our communities safe and healthy. Thank you for all you do!

Together, let’s make this season one of care, compassion, and connection. Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and healthy holiday season.

"When I joined Health PEI, I knew part of the solution for sustainable, high quality health care was working with our regional partners to advance care for all Atlantic Canadians," said Melanie Fraser, CEO of Health PEI. "I am incredibly proud of this formalized collaboration and what we will build together."

Since Summer 2024, CEOs from Atlantic Canada’s six regional health authorities — Nova Scotia Health, Health PEI, IWK Health, NL Health Services, Horizon Health Network/Réseau de santé Horizon, and Réseau de santé Vitalité • Vitalité Health Network — have been meeting quarterly through the Atlantic Health CEO Summit Series, a strategic forum dedicated to advancing regional collaboration and driving health system improvement.

Over the last two days, the CEOs came together in Moncton for the Fall 2025 Summit, continuing our shared commitment to learning from one another, aligning on priorities, and delivering better outcomes for the people and communities we serve.

“Each Atlantic province has its own identity, yet our deep connections make collaboration not only natural but necessary,” said Margaret Melanson, President and CEO, Horizon Health Network. “By working together to strengthen our region’s health care systems, we can show just how small, but mighty, we are.”

Together, the CEO Table is advancing work in four priority areas critical to the future of health care delivery in Atlantic Canada:
◾ Data
◾ Artificial Intelligence (AI)
◾ Workforce Mobility
◾ Procurement

The CEO Table also heard presentations on accelerating access to new medicines in Atlantic Canada, clinical trials, collaborative and sustainable hospital food procurement, and opportunities to drive economic development in Atlantic Canada.

Right time, right place!

Health PEI has a bed coordinator and coordination team to make the best use of limited hospital beds.

One way the team keeps hospital beds available for those who need them most is by transferring individuals who no longer require the range of services available at the hospital where they were first admitted to hospitals where more beds are available.
