UPDATE: The investigation remains ongoing, however the report of a weapon was deemed unfounded.
At approximately 10pm yesterday evening, CPS received a report of a single vehicle crash with the driver reported as having a firearm. The driver fled the scene. Due to the potential threat to the public a shelter in place alert was issued and several roads in the area were blocked off.
CPS, with assistance from the RCMPโs K9 unit, located and arrested the suspect at approximately 11:40pm.
There were no reported injuries.

**Public Safety Advisory Update**
The shelter in place advisory for Lower Malpeque Road and Sherwood Road has been lifted and there is no threat to the community.
