Let us never forget 🫶

On this day, arrest warrants were issued for three women in colonial Massachusetts. They were accused of practicing witchcraft after several young girls in Salem Village began exhibiting unexplained fits and strange behavior.

These events marked the formal start of the Salem witch trials.

Over the following months, more than 200 people were accused. Nineteen were hanged, and one man was pressed to death. The trials ended in 1693, and years later the colony formally acknowledged the injustice.
