Skin Care Sunday ✨
This might be the most important skin care post of all.
As Christmas gets closer I’ve had a few moms come to me asking about what skincare to get for their kids. There is a lot being advertised these days especially on Sephora for kids skincare lines. Its everywhere.
The honest truth? Kids don’t need skincare! It’s a hard NO from me. Here’s why ⬇️
Children have naturally healthy, resilient skin that doesn’t need the routines and products adults rely on. In fact, using unnecessary skincare at a young age can actually do more harm than good. A child’s skin barrier is still developing, which means it’s more sensitive to fragrances, active ingredients, and harsh formulations commonly found in trendy products.
Introducing skincare too early can lead to irritation, allergic reactions, and long-term sensitivity. Over-exfoliating or using products with acids, retinol, or strong cleansers can disrupt the skin’s natural balance, making it more prone to dryness, redness, breakouts, or even chronic dermatitis later in life. Kids simply don’t need it. As children get older close to puberty age a gentle cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer is adequate. With saying all of this I will ALWAYS suggest sun protection at every age however I suggest one that is a mineral sun protection with no added chemicals in it.
If you feel like your child absolutely needs something (or they’ve hit puberty and need something), you can pm me or come see me at the spa. I carry a gentle organic skincare line that is free from chemicals and fragrances etc…
I understand it’s a hard industry to navigate when you just don’t know, so please feel free to reach out even if you just want me to check ingredients on what you have at home, or simply need some guidance. ♥️
Later today I will post some fun at home facial masks that you can make with your kids that are safe to use on young skin, for those fun at home spa days ♥️
