The dog days of summer (or spring 😉) have arrived at Huron Hospice!
"Russell" paid a visit to a family member today and reminded us of the importance of rest and relaxation.
All pets are a welcome addition to Huron Hospice if vaccinated and leashed/crated when in public spaces.

There has been a lot of interest shown in our thrift store since we announced it this week (opening in Bayfield in July). There have also been a lot of offers of help. Thank you. If you are interested in applying to volunteer, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Kelli McGregor at kelli.mcgregor@huronhospice.ca. If you are interested in applying for the general manager position, please see the post on our website https://www.huronhospice.ca/join-our-team or on Indeed. If you are interested in making a donation to help with startup costs or by providing startup supplies (racks, shelving, cabinets, tables, vacuum cleaner, small fridge, portable air conditioner, storage bins), please contact Helen Varekamp at hvarekamp@gmail.com. Many of you have also said you want to start setting aside goods for donation in June. We will be accepting clothing (men, women, youth, child), accessories, bags, shoes, jewelry, household and décor items, small sporting goods, craft supplies, small furniture items, linens, towels, bedding, drapery, toys, games, children's books and pet accessories. We will NOT be able to accept larger items such as beds, appliances, cribs, strollers, bicycles or televisions.

Over the winter, we have been busy, and we wanted to share some of our work with you. We have created a new logo and updated our website. www.huronhospice.ca

Our logo now includes the tagline “moments matter” and reflects what our nursing and volunteer team at the Hospice, our home support and respite volunteers, and our loss and grief team do every day.

We want families to focus on being families for those important final days and hours, or when they are learning how to manage a loss. We call those times moments, and they really do matter.

We felt it was time to refresh our website. We want it to reflect all the ways we work with individuals and their families. We want to make it easy for generous donors to continue to support Huron Hospice.

Please take a look at the logo on our new website at

www.huronhospice.ca

Huron Hospice Volunteer Service supports the Comfort, Dignity and Quality of Life for Individuals with Life-Threatening Conditions.

Tickets are on sale now for the No Place Like Home Dinner and Auction.

The dinner is set for Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 10:30 pm at the Libro Hall, 239 Bill Fleming Drive, Clinton. It's the same great event in a new location.

Tickets cost $150 each or $1,200 for a table of eight.

BUT WAIT!
As an incentive to buy your tickets early, we offer an early-bird prize. A lucky person who purchases their tickets by May 31, 2026, has the chance to win tickets to see the Toronto Blue Jays vs the Texas Rangers on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The tickets were donated by Donny Rivers of Coldwell Banker.

Great food, good music. It is always a fun and meaningful event. Remember, there will be pies.
