Captured moments of the distillation process and all the vessels within its systems 🧪🫧
The heat within the copper alembic still creates steam, which rises through the plant matter we place in the drum. This steam causes the plant volatiles to vaporize!
The hot vapors rise further, exiting the retort and entering the condenser, where they are cooled. This causes them to change back to a liquid where we then collect both the hydrosol (floral water) and essential oil from the plant 🌱
In the last photo, you can see the captured essential oil floating at the top of the collected liquid!
