Microplastics are now being found almost everywhere — in our food, water, air, and even within the human body. While research on how the body processes these particles is still developing, scientists are beginning to better understand how our natural detox systems respond to environmental toxins.
Studies have found that certain chemicals commonly associated with plastics, like BPA and phthalates, can be detected in sweat. In some cases, these compounds appear in sweat even when they aren’t found in blood or urine, suggesting that sweating may act as an additional pathway for the body to release certain toxins.
This is one reason practices that encourage deep, sustained sweating, like sauna bathing, have long been associated with detox and overall wellness.
Beyond sweating, regular sauna use may also support:
• circulation
• lymphatic movement
• stress reduction
• recovery and overall balance
While sauna isn’t a solution for eliminating microplastics entirely, it can support the body’s natural detox processes and help reduce the overall toxic load we’re exposed to every day.
Sometimes the simplest wellness practices are the most powerful.
Sweat. Release. Reset.
