This weeks Heart & Stroke Standard First Aid training with Northumberland CPR Training and A&M Electrical focused on one of the key emergency care skills: splinting.

Students practiced proper immobilization techniques using speed splints, SAM splints, and slings, learning how to support injured limbs, reduce pain, and prevent further harm before professional medical help arrives.

Heart & Stroke emphasizes the importance of keeping the injured area immobilized in the position found, checking circulation before and after splinting, and ensuring the splint is secure but not too tight. The team did an excellent job applying these principles in hands-on scenarios!

Great work, everyone—your skills could make a real difference when it matters most.

🚑 Another Great Two-Day Course with the Town of Cobourg!

This month, Town staff participated in another Heart and Stroke Standard First Aid Level C course with Northumberland CPR Training.

Over the two days, participants practiced key hands-on skills, including spinal immobilization and secondary assessments for ill patients. We also learned how to use the S.A.M.P.L.E. acronym to gather important information when caring for someone who’s unwell.

It was great to see everyone engaged, asking questions, and building confidence in their life-saving skills!
