I’ve honestly struggled to find a savory, satisfying breakfast bite that holds together and actually tastes good.
This combination finally did it!
Black-eyed peas, fennel, sage, and a touch of nutritional yeast — made in my Ninja Crispi air fryer (a Christmas gift from my Daddy) — give the perfect balance of structure, flavor, and nourishment.
Savory Black-Eyed Pea Breakfast Patties (Air Fryer)
• 2 cups cooked black-eyed peas, mashed
• ½ cup gluten-free rolled oats
• ¼–⅓ cup finely diced onion
• ¼ cup finely chopped celery
• ½ cup finely chopped arugula
• 1 Tbsp ground flax + 2 Tbsp water
• 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• ½ tsp ground fennel seed
• ½ tsp dried sage
• ½ tsp dried oregano
• ½ tsp sea salt, black pepper to taste
Form patties → air fry at 375°F
8–10 minutes, flip → 6–8 minutes more
Rest 5 minutes before eating
These patties are naturally high in plant protein and fiber, supporting steady energy and feeling satisfied well into the morning. A breakfast that finally feels both grounding and complete.
