The ForceDecks measure ground reaction forces. How much and how well you put force into the ground to move away from the ground or slow you down when you move towards the ground.
The countermovement jump is a common test.
But it’s just one option.
We can also assess:
* Lower body strength, power, and asymmetries (various jump and isometric tests)
* Single-leg capacity and balance
* Landing force absorption and production
And importantly — upper body function as well:
* Push-up variations to assess force production and symmetry
* Shoulder strength and stability in different positions
* How well you transfer force through the upper body into the ground
Same system. Different setups. Broader insight.
⸻
What this actually tells us
* How much force you produce
* How fast you produce it
* Left vs right imbalances
* How you control and absorb force
* Where movement breaks down under load or speed
* How well and how fast you transition between absorbing and producing force
This gives us a clear picture of how your system is functioning, your goto patterns to produce certain movements and so much more.
⸻
Why we’ve invested in this level of assessment
We don’t guess.
This is part of how we:
* Establish a true baseline
* Identify compensations and weak links
* Guide what we train and how we progress
* Track objective improvements
* Make better return-to-sport / return-to-life decisions
We’ve made a deliberate investment in high-level assessment tools like this — and continue to do so — because better data leads to better decisions.
And better decisions lead to better outcomes for our clients.
Because “feeling ready” isn’t the same as being ready.

Today was a bitter sweet day for me. I am so happy for Chelsea and Matt as they are expecting there 2nd child and she heads on MAT leave. On the other hand she has become such an integral part of what Motion in Sync is about, our philosophy and where we are heading and I know her presence will be missed immensely.
I want to wish her and Matt all the best over the next few weeks and months.
I truly want to thank Chelsea for all that she has meant to me and Motion in Sync and our clients over the years. Depending on what life has planned, I hope to see her back with us again in the future!

As Adults, Life gets busy and even chaotic at times. Work gets crazy, you are running your kids to all of their sports and activities, you have things and people demanding your attention!!! You wonder when you ever could have time to put yourself first, look after your own health…… You know you need to because you start feeling the aches and pains, uncomfortable in your own body, movement becomes more challenging, stress overwhelms you, you lack energy…..
I am here to tell you through my own experience and nearly 20 years of experience working in this industry that consistency doesn’t need to be perfect to be effective.
Start small! 10, 20 or 30 minutes a couple times per week can make a huge difference. Block out times for only you, make sure everyone knows that is your times for YOU.
Consistency doesn’t need to be perfect to be effective. But, you need to start, start today! Because one day you will wish that you did.
Youth Sports Performance Session tonight! Looking forward to our Girls Sports Performance Sessions starting in May!

There is this perception that in order for a training program to be effective, participants should leave tired, crawling and in a pool of sweat.
Effective training should be set up to achieve the desired goals. It should not be about beating up participants or feeding coaches egos.
We focus a lot on developing specific movement qualities and physical traits. The we focus on developing the capacities to produce these over and over in life and sport.
Believe me, we are all for hard work and consistency but with the desired end goal in mind.
Awesome Saturday morning Gofit Class. We invite anyone to become a MISfit!

I am not against static stretching, I just believe that in many cases it is applied in the wrong context and to achieve goals that it cannot achieve. In many cases it can actually make things worse!
For example, if you have an unstable joint, your brain and nervous system will “lock it up” to protect you.
If you just stretch the tight area, you are creating a greater problem for yourself. Even if you get a release in the short term, all you have done is take away the protective mechanism created by your brain and nervous system which leaves you more vulnerable.
Ideally you should be addressing the stability problem, not just the fact that the joint is tight/restricted. Treat the cause, not just the symptom.
True, useable mobility requires control, strength, and the ability to decelerate and produce force through improved ranges of movement.

At Motion in Sync our aim to to get people moving efficiently as part of their overall goal. Through our assessment our aim is to find and address causes of injury, movement dysfunction and potential biomechanical causes of reductions in the ability to perform optimally in sport, training and everyday life. We then incorporate strategies to address any problem areas, as part of the clients overall goal.
We offer the following services:
Rehabilitation, Prevention and Control of chronic or recurring injury or pain through the use of exercise, biomechanical and postural correction and related modalities
We prescribe exercise programs to treat, prevent and control chronic illness and improve quality of life
We train youth to help them improve athletic ability, educate them with regards to the do’s and don’ts and what works and what doesn’t when it comes to training, physical preparation, nutrition and supplementation
We prescribe individualized and appropriate training programs to people of all ages to help them reach their goals, while improving muscle recruitment sequencing, brain-muscle connections to ultimately improve pain free movement. Our clients include those with chronic conditions (eg: joint osteoarthritis), asymptomatic clients who are just looking to move well, be fit and strong, and higher level clients whose aim is to compete recreationally or competitively.
