I was hiking with friends when we came to a log crossing over a deep crevice. Even though I knew it was safe, fear froze me in place. My friend reached back, offered her hand, and that single touch point was all I needed to move forward with confidence. (Thank you )

Coconut Manna Chocolate Squares 🍫

I came up with this recipe one day while experimenting with how to make chocolate without using cocao butter and it turned out to be a total win. It’s rich, a little chewy, and just sweet enough to hit the spot when you want a treat without getting off track. If you like coconut and chocolate, you gotta try this:

✨ 1 jar coconut manna, softened
✨ 4 Tbsp cacao powder
✨ ¼ cup liquid honey
✨ Pinch of sea salt

Stir everything together in a bowl 🥣, then spread about ½ inch thick on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use a knife to gently score lines, then place in the fridge to harden. 😋

Sometimes coconut manna can be tricky to find — Collingwood FreshCo carries it in small boxes in the international section (4 boxes = 1 jar). To soften, place the sealed manna in a pot of very hot water for about 10–15 minutes.

It’s INFORMATION!

Every bite sends a signal to your body.

→ “Store fat” or “burn fat”
→ “Calm the system” or “trigger inflammation”
→ “Crave more” or “feel satisfied”

And when that message is coming from protein bars, skipping meals, or random snacks all day...

The signal gets scrambled.

You don’t have to eat perfectly.

But you do need to be intentional about what you’re telling your body, because it’s always listening.

Meet Lisa Squire 💪
Our newest addition to the Good Energy Coaching team, and the SHi LiFTS tribe!

Lisa brings an incredible mix of experience, energy, and enthusiasm (her true superpowers!) to every class she leads. She loves that strength training makes her feel powerful long after the workout is done, and she’s passionate about helping others feel that same strength ripple into every part of their lives.

Her coaching style is interactive and creative, with a focus on safe, effective lifting technique, because she knows firsthand how lifting can transform not just bodies, but confidence and mindset too.

Lisa’s fitness story started young, chasing after her aunt, her lifelong fitness role model, who’s still crushing workouts at 72. Along the way, Lisa has been inspired by amazing coaches who shaped her journey, and now she’s passing that inspiration forward to every woman she trains.

With certifications in CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Nutrition, Power Monkey Fitness, and Hyrox Coaching, plus a gold medal finish at Ultimate Fitness Events, Lisa walks the walk when it comes to strength and performance.

Outside the gym, she’s all about balance, quiet mornings with coffee, candles, and her fireplace, and adventures like pickleball, disc golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, and traveling with her husband. She’s also had an incredible career path: 14 years as a Registered Massage Therapist followed by 13 years running a hardware store.

Lisa says joining Good Energy feels like a gift, like she’s entering a tribe she’s earned the right to belong to. Her hope is that every woman who leaves her class walks out feeling so freakin’ empowered.

🎉 Say hi to Mareka Davies! 🎉

I’m thrilled to welcome Mareka to our coaching crew at GoodEnergy! She’s here to bring her energy, expertise, and a whole lot of encouragement to your workouts.

Mareka is originally from BC and got into fitness when she moved up to Collingwood in 2023 and realized that she could turn a life long passion into an incredibly rewarding career. Now she’s a Certified Personal Trainer, a level 1 Bone Fitness Instructor and working on her Nutrition and Senior Fitness certifications. Mareka loves helping women discover just how strong they really are.

Her classes are fun, energetic and inclusive, and she promises you’ll leave her class feeling energized, stronger and ready to tackle anything. Her #1 piece of advice for women over 40? “Make yourself a priority and always remember that you are stronger than you think.”

When she’s not coaching, you’ll probably find her hiking with friends in the summer or on her skis in the winter, with a glass wine in hand. She swears by keeping a positive attitude, and her favorite move in the gym is the Bulgarian split squat because it makes her feel powerful.

I can’t wait for you to meet her. Be sure to give her a warm welcome and maybe ask her how she juggles skiing trips with her busy life, she’s got some fun stories next time you see her in the studio!

What no one tells you about hitting your weight loss goal or first pull-up milestone?

It usually doesn’t feel the way you thought it would.

You’ll probably get excited for a few minutes…

But you don’t hear a choir of angels.

You don’t become a whole new person overnight.

You just kind of go…

“Oh, cool!”

Because the real transformation wasn’t the result itself.

It was:

✅ Learning how to trust yourself
✅ Showing up on the days you didn’t feel like it
✅ Realizing you just needed a better strategy

So when my clients say things like:

“I hit my goal… and I didn’t feel that different”
I tell them: GOOD!

That means you didn’t just chase a result…

You became the kind of person who lives this way by DEFAULT.

That’s not a finish line.

That’s a lifestyle.

That’s a new identity. 🙌

And even sleep… BUT most people still treat it like an afterthought!

Here’s what actually happens when you’re sleep-deprived:

👎 You crave more sugar
👎 Inflammation goes up
👎 Recovery drops

Ever finish a meal and still feel hungry?

Like… you should be full, but you’re already thinking about what to eat next?

Well there’s actually a good reason this is happening…

It’s because some foods literally throw off the hormones that tell your brain “I’m full.”

So yes — you can eat an ENTIRE meal and still feel hungry afterwards.
