I am excited to announce my collaboration with Tal-Glow natural skincare on a leg and foot cream!

👩‍⚕️ As nurses we saw how ineffective foot creams are. They cover up symptoms but don’t truely support skin health. Tal-Glow and i teamed up to make these 2 amazing products that support lower leg and foot health with a purpose — here’s why:

• We kept it natural 🌱, simple, and backed by real healing ingredients — with seniors, nurses, athletes, and anyone on their feet 🏃‍♀️ in mind.

🛡️ Shielded Steps

• Made with local tallow, zinc and tea tree oil
• Helps protect against fungal issues
• Keeps feet feeling fresh and clean.
• Reduces itch and aleviates inflamation

🧴 Soothing Steps

• Formulated with local tallow, magnesium, and peppermint essential oil
• Eases muscle soreness, reduces tension, and deeply hydrates dry, tired feet.

Why a pump instead of a jar?

• Easier for seniors and anyone with limited mobility or arthritis.
• Mess-free and more hygienic
• Promotes independence and easy daily use.

Crafted for hardworking feet — especially those that have walked many miles.

Where clinical care meets clean, powerful skin care 🍃

Availble at Island Affairs in Comox or online at www.talglow.ca

Heel Fissures 😖

The warm weather is finally here 🎉
Sandals and walking around barefoot with feet unprotected, in the elements, increases your chances of getting CRACKS and FISSURES. 🫣
Every step taken separates the skin edges and can cause pain.

The treatment for cracks and fissures is to:

#1 Reduce the callus

#2 For mild cracks a good skin care regimen of cream or FOAM with urea applied daily. An overnight application of the Podoexpert dry to cracked skin CREAM with socks applied. Also wear natural fiber socks (ie cotton or bamboo) to protect feet from dirt and to better keep moisture in.

#3 For deeper fissures and cracks follow the above advice but also consider sealing the crack with a spray/ gel bandage or waterproof tape. In this case a well cleaned foot prior to tape applications is best.

What’s the best moisturizer?
Answer: THE ONE YOU USE 🥳

Honestly, anything you can use consistently is going to help your overall foot health. Lucky for us though Podo Expert makes a revolutionary line of foot creams and nail tinctures!

Traditional creams leave skin greasy, can stain sheets and don’t even think about putting a sock on after.

PodoExpert is patented technology to lay down lipids into the skin matrix. Protecting emerging skin and keeping that barrier protected. All this in a foam!

Foam creams are modern skin care products as they are easily spread and rapidly absorbed, with outstanding coverage. Foam creams last much longer than comparable emulsions. This means you can snap your fingers after application! 🫰

I have samples if you feel like giving your feet a little love! ❤️

We have all heard about the childrens book

“The princess and the pea” 👸

Well In the fairytale, the small pea did not allow the princess to have a good night's sleep; she was so uncomfortable on account of the tiny object buried deep in the bedding. 💤

How’s this related to feet you ask 🧐

📢 PSA 🚨

It’s spring time and your shoes need to be checked!

Shoes indeed have a shelf life although we often overlook improper fitting shoes. Shoes serve many functions. They protect our feet. They cushion our body weight. They can make our feet feel comfortable or fashionable — hopefully both! Finding the proper shoes and making sure they fit are important for keeping your feet and your body happy. Poorly fitting shoes can be painful and cause foot problems like bunions, corns, calluses, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, and more.

Funny thing about Orthopedics…. there is so much foot care involved! Your feet are so important to good skeletal health.

My journey to keep learning in Orthopedics led me to becoming a foot care nurse.

Foot care nurses are specially trained in the provision of foot care and provide nail cutting, nursing assessments, callus treatment, information and support that assists patients in maintaining healthy feet.

Good footcare really matters to people and regular personal footcare can help individuals to remain active, mobile and independent. Foot problems can lead to discomfort, pain, infection, ulceration and an increased risk of falling in older people.

I will be booking starting Friday May 6th 🎉

Your word of mouth referrals are appreciated 🥰

A cast saw is an oscillating power tool used to remove orthopedic casts. Unlike a circular saw with a rotating blade, a cast saw uses a sharp, small-toothed blade rapidly oscillating or vibrating back and forth over a very small angle to cut material.
The patient's skin frequently comes into contact with the cast saw blade without cutting. The design enables the saw to cut rigid materials such as plaster or fiberglass while soft tissues such as skin move back and forth with the blade, dissipating the shear forces, preventing injury. A general technique in the use of cast saw often involves a demonstration before actually cutting the cast!

Modern cast saws date back to the plaster cast cutting saw which was submitted for patent on April 2, 1945
