We are excited to share that we are offering the Calm, Cool, & Connected program again! ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ˜Š The program will begin on October 14th.

โžก๏ธ Calm, Cool, & Connected is an anxiety skills group for children ages 7-11. Using evidence-based techniques based on cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), your child will learn various relaxation and cognitive (i.e., thinking) strategies to help them better manage anxiety. We will also help your child face their fears using gradual exposure techniques in a small, safe, and supportive group environment.

โžก๏ธ Parents will be given weekly resources to support their child as they learn to overcome their fears and worries. Parents will also attend 15 minutes of each session to review what we have learned.

โžก๏ธ We have 6 spaces available. If you would like to learn more or to register your child, please email info@connectionsclinic.com

Does anyone else feel like August just flew by?! All of a sudden, fall seems to be in the air ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ˜ฏ

The weather isn't the only thing changing around this time - many parents start to notice a sudden shift in their child as worries about school begin to pop up or intensify. Below are some tips for helping your child and family navigate the back to school transition! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ““

๐Ÿ“… Get back into a routine - creating structure by putting a plan in place and making expectations clear can help to minimize anxiety.

๐Ÿ˜– Check in with stress levels - this means not only checking in on your child's stress, but also your own!

๐Ÿ‘‚ Listen and validate your child - this lets your child know that you are *really* listening and acknowledging how they feel, even if you don't fully agree with their emotions or understand their cause.

๐Ÿ•น Focus on things within your control - preparing ahead of time and focusing on the things you *can* do can be helpful as you focus less on the unknown and uncontrollable, which is a big part of worry thoughts.

๐Ÿ“ Create a "cope ahead plan" - this involves discussing, and maybe even writing down, what to do in various stressful situations that are likely to arise for your child.
