A lot of people feel like they're "taking advantage" if they use their ICBC coverage. Like they have to be really injured to justify treatment.

You don't.

You got hit by a car. Many parts of your body were aggressively je**ed around while other parts were tightly strapped to a chair. Things are going to be painful and restricted.

That's enough.

You don't need to suffer more or wait longer to be "sick enough" for treatment.

Here's what you're already entitled to:
✓ 12 weeks of pre-approved treatment
✓ 12 massage therapy sessions
✓ 25 physiotherapy sessions
✓ 12 acupuncture sessions
✓ 12 kinesiology sessions
✓ 12 counselling sessions

All direct-billed. No approval hoops. No justification needed. ICBC has already decided you deserve this care.

The permission you actually need:
Give yourself permission to use the coverage. Book the appointment. Get assessed. Understand what you're dealing with and make informed choices about your recovery.

This is what the coverage is there for.

If you're going to do treatment at all, doing it early means better outcomes and fewer total sessions. Your injury responds best to early intervention.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy isn't one-size-fits-all.

Some people benefit from strengthening exercises. Some need to learn how to relax and lengthen these muscles (super important for delivery!). Some need both. And some people need to focus on something else entirely, like breathing or hip stability.

The right care plan is the one designed specifically for you and your goals.

Here's what happens when you do one treatment session, wait three weeks, then come back:

Your body has to start the recovery process from scratch. Your nervous system doesn't hold onto the gains from that one session—it resets.

Why regular sessions work better:
Research shows that training frequency significantly impacts your tissue's ability to adapt and heal. Your body needs consistent stimulus to trigger actual change.

When there are gaps between sessions, your body doesn't get the signal to continue adapting.

Regular sessions—even gentle ones—work better than sporadic intense ones because consistency is what triggers your nervous system and tissues to change.

About treatment intensity:
Some people are hesitant to come in because they're worried treatment will make things worse. That's legitimate.

At Capria, your practitioner always meets you where you're at. If you're in significant pain, they focus on reducing pain frequency, intensity, and duration first. They're not pushing you through it.

As pain decreases, they gradually increase your workload—but only when your body is ready. Your practitioner won't escalate treatment intensity without knowing your body well or without being able to monitor your response.

The 12-week window exists because research shows that's when your injury is most responsive to treatment. Consistent care during those early weeks produces better outcomes than sporadic sessions.

If you can commit to regular sessions during these first 12 weeks, you're giving yourself the best chance at faster, more complete recovery.

Your body is doing something amazing right now - growing an entire human.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy during pregnancy is about supporting that process. We help you understand what YOUR body needs, move comfortably, and feel prepared for whatever your birth looks like.

It's not about fixing anything - you're not broken. It's about giving you tools and knowledge so you feel confident and supported.
