Something I've been thinking about for new RMTs: What if you worked at two clinics at the start instead of just one?

If your goal is four days a week, you could split it—two days at one clinic, two at another. I did this early on, and it completely changed how I understood what I actually wanted.

Here's why: when you're brand new, you don't have a reference point. You don't know what "good" looks like yet, so everything just feels normal.

But when you can step between two different environments? You start to notice things. You see what feels right and what doesn't. You discover what actually matters to you as a practitioner—sometimes just by experiencing the contrast.

It takes a little more logistics, but the clarity is worth it.

My understanding of Chinese medicine is that it's deeply rooted in the land around us. The land has its own cycles and flows, and so does our body.

It's very natural for the body to get thrown off these cycles and flows. That's when disease manifests.

I'm most excited to work with these manifestations. I really enjoy working with digestive issues—especially stress-related ones—and supporting people through chronic pain. I'd love to work with you through acupuncture and Chinese medicine to create some pockets of ease in your daily life. 💚

Here are some questions worth asking when you interview—and why they actually matter:

Ask about Jane. Practice management software isn't glamorous, but it reflects whether a clinic invests in making your life easier. It matters.

Ask to see the data. A clinic that's transparent about booking patterns, no-show rates, and which practitioners are actually busy tells you something: they're honest about what's real here. It also tells you whether there's genuine patient flow or if you'd be building from scratch.

Ask about logistics. Who takes care of linens? Cleaning?

Admin work? I treat 8 patients a day—that's 16 sheets and 8 blankets. I need to know I'm not managing that alone.

These details affect whether you have energy left for actual care at the end of the day.

Ask about collaboration. How much are you expected to refer to others? How many referrals will you actually receive? Is there a system, or are you starting from zero?

This reveals whether the clinic is genuinely integrated or if everyone's working in isolation.

Ask about the patient base. Does the clinic feed you established patients, or do you build everything yourself?

Here's why I'm asking you to ask these things: once you start treating patients, they become your people. You're building something real. And it's heartbreaking to leave when you've invested deeply.

So understand the conditions you're walking into. What does the clinic value supporting? That matters.

Meet Bill, a registered acupuncturist and traditional Chinese medicine practitioner at Capria Care.

Bill's understanding of Chinese medicine is that it's deeply rooted in the land around us—the land has its own cycles and flows, and so does our body. When we're sick, stressed, or navigating these times we're in, it's natural for the body to get thrown off those cycles. That's when disease manifests.

Bill is especially passionate about working with digestive issues (especially stress-related ones) and chronic pain. He loves supporting patients in creating pockets of ease in their daily life through acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Welcome to the team, Bill. 💚

When I first got out of massage school, I was driven by one thing: I need to get paid.

Student debt, bills, car insurance—it all added up. So I took the first clinic that would hire me. I didn't really read the contract. I didn't ask about the split or what costs came out. And honestly? I didn't even think about whether the work actually interested me.

Turns out they focussed most on rehab and workers' comp care. Important work. Real work. But not my work. Not the people I wanted to understand deeply.

Within six months, I was questioning everything. What have I gotten myself into? Do I even like this job? Do I like this profession?

Here's what that taught me: financial pressure is real. It's not something you can just ignore. But it's also not the only thing that matters for your wellbeing.

When you can, even a little, pause and ask yourself—what kind of care do I actually want to give? What populations feel meaningful to me? What does good work feel like in my body?

Those questions matter. And sometimes you learn them the hard way, like I did.

You've seen those Pilates reformer machines and they look intimidating. Straps and springs and sliding things.

You don't need to know how to use it. That's Genelle's job.

She sets everything up before you arrive. Adjusts the springs for your body. Shows you each movement.

Watches your form and gives feedback the whole time.
You just show up in clothes you can move in.

Clinical Pilates training teaches practitioners how to use the reformer therapeutically, not just for fitness.

Genelle uses it to help you find muscles you didn't know you had, improve your movement patterns, and reduce pain.

First time? You're in good hands. She'll meet you where you're at.

To all the new RMTs who just graduated this December—a genuine congratulations. You made it! 🎓💚

I'm Richelle, and I wanted to reach out with something I wish someone had told me when I started: you don't have to do anything right now.

It's December. You deserve to rest. You've done incredible work to get here, and honestly? Taking time to rest isn't lazy—it's actually how you'll show up more clearly when you're thinking about your future.

When you're rested, you can think more honestly about what you actually want. Not what you need right now, but what matters to you in a workplace. What kind of patients you want to serve. What values feel important.

After almost 10 years in this field, I've learned that the practitioners who built the most sustainable, joyful careers were the ones who took time to think about fit—not just availability.

So rest well. Recover. And when you're ready in the new year, we can talk about how to find a place that actually aligns with who you are.

You've earned this break. 🤝

You train hard. You also have that one thing that keeps flaring up.

Clinical Pilates uses muscles you don't typically use and moves you in ways you don't typically move. For athletes, this fills gaps in your training that might be contributing to recurring injuries.

Genelle has extensive experience in injury rehabilitation and sports recovery. She starts with massage to release what's tight and restricted. Then uses the movement portion to activate what's not firing and reinforce better patterns.

This isn't a replacement for your training. It's the maintenance work that keeps you training.
Covered by insurance as massage therapy. Direct billing available.

Book your first movement + massage appointment with Genelle today.

You cancel plans again because you're in pain. Your friends stop inviting you. You feel guilty when you do go out but need to leave early.

Eventually, you stop trying altogether.

This is one of the most damaging cycles of chronic pain - and it makes everything worse. Social isolation increases pain sensitivity, depression, and reduces your pain tolerance.

In counselling, we work on strategies to maintain connections without overextending yourself. This might look like:

🌿"I can't commit to dinner, but I can do coffee for 30 minutes"
🌿"I need to sit, but I'd love to see you"
🌿"I'm having a bad pain day, can we video chat instead?"

Staying connected is pain management.

While vestibular physiotherapy treats most dizziness and motion sensitivity, some symptoms need additional medical evaluation:

🌿Symptoms worsening despite treatment
🌿New or changing hearing loss
🌿Severe headaches with dizziness
🌿Neurological symptoms (weakness, numbness, vision changes)

We maintain communication with your physician and coordinate referrals when needed to ensure you get comprehensive care.

Book with Vika (accepting new patients now) or Simone (accepting new patients in January).
