Haydee Windey Integrative Professional Counselling

Haydee Windey Integrative Professional Counselling "I believe that self-awareness creates the ripple effect of healing and growth." Each person’s story is unique.

I’m an Integrative Counsellor offering Clinical Counselling services both in-person and online. I view counselling as a collaborative, ongoing process built on safety, trust, and mutual commitment. It’s a space where individuals, couples, youth, and children can explore challenges and strengthen their well-being. I support clients navigating grief and loss, life transitions, stress, anxiety, and depression. My approach is flexible and responsive, drawing from evidence-based methods such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, existential therapy, and psychodynamic insights. With couples, I integrate EFCT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), Imago, and the Gottman Method to enhance connection, communication, and emotional resilience. When working with children and youth, I incorporate art and play therapy to help them express and process emotions in ways that feel natural and safe. I tailor my approach to suit your personality, needs, and goals—whether you're seeking healing, clarity, growth, or simply a space to be heard.

This is my counselling office in Coquitlam BC. My goal is to create a welcoming physical and emotional setting where clients can feel safe, heard, understood, vulnerable, curious, and confident to work on the four dimensions of change/problems they need to sort out for long-lasting transformation and wellbeing. 😀In therapy, a counsellor’s initial main goal is to create a strong therapeutic alliance so that clients can experience the transformation desired. Clients need to feel safe and protected so that they are comfortable to share their biggest concerns and fears without worrying about being judged, censored, or criticized; clients also need validation of their strengths, encouragement to develop consistent commitment, and a place for inner balance and empowerment so that they can experiment with new ways of coping and becoming. The counselling process is a journey of two, no doubt, but a journey that will request from the client to bring, into the counselling room, the many stories, beliefs, values and voices of the people who have influenced them. Counsellors and clients become a team moving toward planning, goal setting, and transformation.
This is what I’ve learned:
When somebody seeks therapy, a counsellor will pay attention to the four dimensions of clients’ problems/change:
1. The way clients relate within themselves.
2. The way clients relate to others.
3. The way clients relate to their past (developmental personal history).
4. The way clients manage their life stages/transitions.

1. To help clients change their own ways maybe an impossible task; however, to help clients change the way they are used to relating within themselves is not. There are many ways to do this with a counsellor’s guidance, as the numerous variations found in the main psychological theories. A counsellor helps clients identify the most suitable counselling approaches to their personality styles and specific needs. Clients discover that trying out new ways of restructuring self-talk, and behaviours can turn out to be something very liberating and exciting!
2. Clients can not change other people, but they can change the way they relate to them. With a therapist’s help, clients can change their habitual patterns of perceptions, communication, problem-solving strategies, and behaviours toward their family members, friends, co-workers, and clients. These new ways of interacting with others is initially practised in the counselling room. By changing ineffective ways of relating to others, clients eventually develop better coping strategies in their relationships and consequently they manage to develop better interactions and connections with others.
3. Clients can not change their past, but they can change the ways they relate to it. For example, clients can change the stories they tell themselves about their personal history or change their emotional response to past trauma. In therapy, clients learn how to get rid of unhealthy patterns and how to cope with triggers in a healthy way. When this happens, clients start feeling ‘hopeful’ about their change; this process of self-awareness, new ways of doing things, and renewed feelings of hope will strengthen their resilience, which is vital to effectively deal with life challenges, uncertainty, and change, in a nutshell, for the ability to experience a happier life.
4. Therapy can hep clients feel supported to manage challenging life-stages including, for example, starting university, a new career, getting married, having children, getting divorced, losing a beloved one, retiring, facing a chronic illness or even imminent death.
With increased awareness, and realization of how to generate change, clients start becoming more assertive in making choices and moving towards long-lasting wellbeing.
In my counselling office, I offer a welcoming physical and emotional setting where my clients can learn to feel safe, confident, and hopeful that transformation and wellbeing are possible. My office is in Coquitlam, BC. Canada. If you feel that I can be of help and you are ready for it, let’s start working together towards change and well-being! I also offer online sessions and make a point to create a welcoming platform for my clients’ development.

Awakening the Dream, Awake in the Dream, Expressing Your Dream thru you. I invite you to read Carly’s blog. She describes what was happening in her life, (very difficult moment), when she created one of her most beautiful intuitive paintings. I loved to read about her intuitive process to create this abstract painting, and also, how this helped her heal and integrate all her physical layers! Thank you Carly for sharing your journey on how abstract painting helped you not only create stunning art but also recover from a tough life patch. Reminder to my friends and audience: you don’t need to be a ‘professional artist,’ to express yourself intuitively, and creatively.’ You need to be Bold, Curious, and yes, Playful. Creating from a place of true Joy helps us express our true, very truthful Self🌟✨🌟💕what a gift to ourselves AND others!

Enter into another world with my dreamlike abstract paintings that will infuse you with the magical spirit of nature.

I have practised them all, and they’ve helped me maintain an effective self-care routine. In times of a very tight schedule and high pressure, my self-care activities may get affected, though. I always keep 4 or 5 essentials. Whenever I have to spend many hours within four walls, for example, I never stop practising my 3 or 4 basic practises, and my ‘life-savers,’ which have been, ‘square breathing and seeing nature.’ I take several 5 to 10-minute breaks, along the busy day, and look at the greenery or the sky outside my office window, while practising square breathing: repeating the mantra ‘I let in peace,’ (while inhaling), and ‘I let out worry,’ (while exhaling). This little, short practice became my living mantra for 365 consecutive days recently. Not only did it help me stay mentally/emotionally healthy, but it also helped me gain a whole new appreciation for the simple things in life.

My Story

I have been a school teacher for decades so in the classroom I have witnessed multiple times that ‘we learn by doing.’ And this is what I did for years. I strived to accomplish life goals. Later in life, I also discovered that we learn and can accomplish even more ‘by just being.’ In fact, the trick is to learn how ‘to be in the moment,’ allowing life to happen to us so that we can create from that place of centeredness and peace. Through trial and error, I have also learned that the call we feel to free ourselves from meaningless labels and disconnection is, in fact, our life mission. And, our life purpose is to learn how to connect with ourselves, with others, and with Source so we can understand who we are and what we are here for.

Through Mindful Purpose Meditation, I learned that we can create our life by demand, if we are ready to take the spiritual plunge with courage and dedication. Today I mentor people on how to connect with self, disconnect from counter intuitive emotions and connect with Source. Our bodies are like an antenna which needs to be clear, without interference to receive the messages from Source, God, Consciousness or whatever name you resonate with. I learned all this through serendipity first, and then through trial and error, experiencing a great deal of suffering, but finally through wonder, peaceful contemplation and even joy.

Had I known all this when I was young, the connection with myself and with others would have been way more peaceful, meaningful and fulfilling. Sometimes, I can’t resist to wonder ‘how much simpler and easier,’ my life would have been. But, then I acknowledge that my personal journey ‘as it has been,’ has defined ‘who I am today,’ and so for that, I feel at peace and I am eternally grateful.

For me, life is a big classroom where we all have the opportunity to learn and to teach. With the practice and teachings of Mindful Purpose Meditations I heal myself, mentor others on how to self-heal, and assist in the integration of the planet, through the connection I have with divine source which provides me with inspiration, guidance, creativity and strength so I can renew, on a daily basis, my pledge: to live a life of purpose, meaning and service.
