On the 12th Day of Christmas… A Season of Grace 🎄

If there’s one thing I hope you take with you through the holidays, it’s this:

Your gut doesn’t need perfection.
It needs kindness.

This season is meant to be enjoyed — the meals, the memories, the laughter, the late nights, the little indulgences that make it feel special.

One meal won’t undo your health.
One celebration won’t “throw you off.”
And your gut is far more resilient than you’ve been led to believe.

Supporting your digestion during the holidays isn’t about doing everything “right.”
It’s about offering yourself grace.

✨ eating with enjoyment
✨ listening to your body without guilt
✨ choosing warmth, rest, and movement when it feels good
✨ and letting go of the pressure to be perfect

When we soften the rules and calm the nervous system, the gut often responds beautifully.

So as this 12 Days of Gut-Friendly Christmas comes to a close...
Enjoy the season.
Nourish yourself in all the ways that matter.
And trust that small, supportive choices — made with kindness — go a very long way.

Wishing you comfort, joy, and a gut that feels supported every step of the way 🎄✨

On the 11th Day of Christmas… Listen to Your Gut 🎄

This time of year is full — full calendars, full tables, and full hearts.
With all the celebrations, it’s easy to miss the little signals your body is sending… and that’s okay.

Because your gut is still chatting away — just in its own quiet, helpful way.

It might speak through:
✨ a little bloating or heaviness
✨ that “I’m comfortably full” feeling
✨ cravings or energy dips
✨ feeling calm, satisfied, and nourished

None of these are good or bad.
They’re simply helpful clues.

Listening to your gut doesn’t mean skipping holiday favourites or saying no to the fun.
It just means tuning in with curiosity and kindness:

✨ noticing how certain foods make you feel
✨ recognizing when you’ve had enough
✨ paying attention to what leaves you energized (or sleepy 😄)
✨ honouring when your body wants warmth, rest, or a gentle walk

Simply listening — without judgment — is a joyful step toward long-term gut health.

Here’s to enjoying the season and feeling good while you do it 🎄💛

🎶 On the ninth day of Christmas...sleep saved the day.

Your gut repairs itself at night. A calming bedtime ritual = better digestion, less stress, more resilience.

Start with the good stuff (fibre + protein) and add the fun foods after. Your digestion — and energy — stay steadier.

Day 5: Digestive Bitters Before Feasting
(another small hinge that can swing a mighty door)

Tip: 5–10 drops before meals

Digestive bitters are one of those old-school tools that are finally getting the love they deserve — and for good reason.

Think of bitters as a little “wake-up call” for your digestive system.

And that simple signal sets off a whole chain of digestive support:

More stomach acid
(so you break down food better and feel less heavy afterward)

More digestive enzymes
(so proteins, fats, and carbs are processed instead of sitting there)

More bile flow
(great for digesting richer holiday foods)

Better motility
(translation: less bloating and less of that “stuck” feeling)

It’s such a small thing — 5–10 drops before a meal — but it helps your body do what it’s designed to do.

And honestly?
Bitters are one of my favourite holiday helpers because they support you without asking you to avoid the foods you love.

No restriction. Just better digestion.

Day 4: CCF Tea (A Warm Gut Hug)

Cumin + coriander + fennel tea

CCF tea is gentle, grounding, and incredibly effective for reducing bloating. A cosy ritual for your gut on chilly days.

CCF stands for Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel — three humble kitchen spices that, when combined, form a classic herbal tea long used in Ayurveda for digestive support.

Because of its balancing and digestive properties, people have used it for centuries — especially after heavy meals, during seasonal changes, or times of feasting and indulgence — to support digestion, ease bloating, reduce gas, and bring digestive calm.

Here’s a version of the recipe I often use for myself or recommend to clients — especially around busy/indulgent seasons (holidays, travel, social dinners, etc.).

Ingredients (for 1–2 cups):

1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds

1 teaspoon whole coriander seeds

1 teaspoon whole fennel seeds

2 cups filtered water

Optional add-ons (for extra warmth & support):

A few slices of fresh ginger

A pinch of black pepper (if you want a little more digestive fire)

Squeeze of lemon or a bit of raw honey (for taste and extra digestive comfort)

Method:

Combine the seeds (and ginger/pepper if using) in a small pot with water.

Bring water to a gentle boil, then lower heat and let simmer for ~5–10 minutes, covered.

Turn off heat, cover, and let steep for another 5 minutes.

Strain the tea into your favourite mug.

Sip slowly — ideally between meals or after a heavier meal to support digestion.

Tip: If you like, you can make a larger batch (4–6 cups) and keep it in a thermos to sip throughout the day — especially useful during travel, busy work days, or festive gatherings.

This is the time of year when gut myths get loud — and honestly, they keep so many people stuck and feeling frustrated.

Let’s clear up a few big ones:

✨ MYTH #1:
“I should cut out more foods to heal my gut.”
TRUTH:
Your microbiome thrives on diversity. Restriction usually makes things worse, not better.

✨ MYTH #2:
“If I’m bloated, my gut is a mess.”
TRUTH:
Bloating is a signal, not a disaster. Signals give us clues — and clues lead us to clarity.

✨ MYTH #3:
“I can fix this on my own if I just try harder.”
TRUTH:
Your gut is complex. Willpower isn’t the problem — missing information is.

And if you’ve been following along with my December newsletters, you know this all leads to something I’m so excited about…
✨ the Everyday Gut Health program — your personalized path to feeling better in the new year.

But for today?
Let’s start gently.

Eat For Living!

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food - Hippocrates. There is no better way to say it! Healthy food and lifestyle choices can not only prevent costly and devastating disease but are the same healthy choices that put you on the path to health and vitality! My philosophy is one of bio-individuality...no one diet or lifestyle is right for everyone. We are unique individuals. Some bodies thrive on certain foods while those same foods would cause dis-ease for another body. Helping you discover which foods fuel your unique body and which foods inflame you is the basis of my practice. Are you experiencing any of these symptoms? - Low energy - Headaches or migraine - Chronic digestive issues - Weight gain - Anxiety - Depression - Unable to sleep through the night - Allergies, Asthma or Excema As a holistic Nutritionist, I hear this list of symptoms often. Transitioning to a healthy diet is tough as many of us just don't know which foods to eat – which are good for us and which aren't. It's confusing and to make matters worse, there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Our food supply has changed drastically over the past 50 years, as has marketing and labeling of food products, only adding to the confusion. I Can Help! I've designed my programs to guide you through the maze of information and bring you out the other end with a good understanding of exactly which foods nourish your body and which foods can cause dis-ease. Whether you feel you are already quite healthy but want to take it to the next level or, you are simply... Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired There is something in my programs for everyone. I will guide you to explore which foods work best (and which don't) to give you optimum energy, kickstart changes in your body, and reduce your waistline. I don't believe a healthy relationship will ever exist between my clients and their plates if they are living with lists of restrictions, labeling food choices as good or bad, or if they are generally not enjoying themselves. I work with my clients to inspire them to create their own version of a happy, healthy life. We work together in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding while eating foods that nourish your body as well as your soul! If you are ready look at food in a new way, and learn the habits for looking and feeling fabulous then you are in the right place... and I am thrilled to have you here! Most of us don't know just how amazing our bodies are really designed to feel! How it feels to have: Clarity and focus Steady, even energy all day long To have enthusiasm and excitement every day Health and vitality that is the envy of your friends Transition into a healthy lifestyle you can live with and leave those old habits behind! Clean Eating! It's about letting go of what doesn't serve your body (emotionally and physically) and reclaiming your Health and Vitality!
