We're sending big, big thanks to Shine Your Light HomeMade Cards and the students at St. Matthew Catholic Secondary School. They provided our Centre with special Christmas cards for our residents and patients this holiday season! Such a thoughtful and kind gesture.

On this final and 4th Sunday of Advent, we light the last purple candle, which is called the "Angel's Candle." This candle represents peace. We are excited that our Prince of Peace is soon to arrive.

En ce quatrième et dernier dimanche de l’Avent, nous allumons la dernière bougie violette. Il s’agit de la « bougie des anges ». Elle représente la paix. Nous attendons avec impatience l’arrivée prochaine de notre Prince de la paix.

On this third Sunday of Advent, we light the pink (or rose) candle. The change from purple to pink signifies the transition in the season from repentance to the celebration. The pink candle is called the "Shepherds Candle" and represents joy.

En ce troisième dimanche de l’Avent, nous allumons la bougie rose. La transition du violet au rose représente la transition du repentir à la célébration. La bougie rose est la « bougie du berger ». Elle représente la joie.

We extend a heartfelt congratulations to our BSO, Lynn Fontaine, for receiving the Dr. Marie-France Rivard Fund Award for Geriatric Mental Health Care in Long-Term Care Homes (LTCH).🙌

This award is presented to five outstanding long-term care professionals across the Champlain Region who demonstrate exceptional person-centred care for residents living with neurocognitive disorders. We are incredibly proud that Lynn has been recognized among this distinguished group.💛

Lynn was nominated by Caitlin Freeman, Registered Nurse with the Geriatric Psychiatry Program (BSO), who spoke highly of Lynn’s compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to improving quality of life for the residents she supports. In addition, an honourable mention to SJCCC's BSO Vicky Derouchie, acknowledging the strength and impact of their collaborative work. Their nomination letter was filled with genuine admiration and reflected the deep respect they have earned in the field.🤩

Lynn accepted the award at the BSO Networking Conference in Ottawa last week, representing St. Joseph's Continuing Care Centre with professionalism, warmth and pride.✨

We are incredibly fortunate to have her - and all of our outstanding BSO team members - supporting our residents with such care and dedication every day. 🎉

Today, on the second Sunday of Advent, we continue our journey of joyful anticipation of Christ. We light the second purple candle which is called the "Bethlehem Candle”. This candle represents love and symbolizes Christ's manger.

Aujourd’hui, en ce deuxième dimanche de l’Avent, nous poursuivons notre joyeuse attente de l’arrivée de Jésus Christ. Nous allumons alors la deuxième bougie, la « bougie de Bethléem ». Elle représente l’amour et la crèche de Jésus.
