Introduction to Mindful Eating Workshop (Online)
March 11th | 1:30–3:00 PM

Do you ever find yourself reaching for food when you’re stressed, bored, overwhelmed, or even celebrating? You’re not alone.

What Is Emotional Eating?
Emotional eating happens when we use food to cope with feelings rather than hunger. Food can become comfort, distraction, or relief. While it may help in the moment, it often leaves us feeling disconnected from our body’s true needs.

Discover Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is a gentle, non-judgmental approach to reconnecting with your body and your relationship with food. It helps you:

✨Tune into physical hunger and fullness cues
✨Notice emotional triggers without acting on autopilot
✨Slow down and truly enjoy your food
✨Build a more balanced, compassionate relationship with eating

In This Workshop, You’ll Learn:

✨ What mindful eating is and why it matters
✨ How it can help reduce emotional eating
✨ Simple, practical tips to get started
✨ Insights from a mindful eating questionnaire

This supportive virtual session is perfect for anyone curious about improving their relationship with food.

Join us online and take the first step toward eating with awareness, intention, and self-compassion. 💛

💛 Random Acts of Kindness Day – February 17 💛

Kindness has the power to connect us, uplift us, and create real change — especially when it becomes a daily habit, not a rare event. Simple acts of kindness strengthen relationships at home, school, work, and in our communities. They also boost mental well-being, reduce stress, and inspire others to pay it forward.

Kindness breaks down barriers, brings people together, and reminds us that we’re all human first. It’s not passive — it sparks action, compassion, and positive change.

On Random Acts of Kindness Day, let’s remember:
Kindness isn’t extraordinary — it’s something we can choose every day.
Together, we can make kindness the norm, not the exception 💛

February is Heart Month — a time to turn our attention to the health of our hearts and the people we love most. ❤️

Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, is placing a special focus on women’s heart health. On February 13th, our staff and volunteers proudly wore red in support of Wear Red Canada — a national initiative led by the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance to raise awareness about women’s heart disease.

Why? Heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death in women in Canada.

Globally, cardiovascular disease affects 1 in 3 women, yet women remain:
• Under-studied
• Under-diagnosed
• Under-treated
• Under-aware

Heart disease is on the rise. More than half of women do not recognize the symptoms of a heart attack. Women can also be at greater risk than men — and their symptoms can look different than what many of us expect.

But there is hope. ❤️
Heart disease can be preventable, and there is so much we can do to reduce our risk through awareness, education, lifestyle changes, and early action.

From all of us at Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, we encourage you to be mindful, curious, and proactive about your heart health — for yourself, for your mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and loved ones. Knowing the signs and symptoms could help you recognize a heart attack and potentially save a life.

We invite you to learn more and explore key messages about women’s heart health here:
https://cwhha.ca/resources/5-key-messages/

Together, let’s continue the conversation, raise awareness, and take steps toward healthier hearts in our community. ❤️
