💙 Eating Disorders Awareness Week | Feb 1–7, 2026 💙

Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is a national movement dedicated to raising awareness, challenging stigma, and breaking down barriers to care for people affected by eating disorders.

✨ This year’s theme: “Health doesn’t have a look” ✨

We’re inviting our community to challenge the harmful belief that thinness equals health. Messages rooted in diet culture, weight stigma, and healthism can negatively affect how people view their bodies and their relationship with food — and they often reinforce broader systems of exclusion and judgment.

💬 Health is more than…
• …what you weigh — Healthy bodies exist in all shapes and sizes. Weight alone is not a reliable measure of health.
• …what you eat — Food is influenced by culture, access, enjoyment, and well-being. All foods can have a place in a flexible, compassionate approach to nourishment.
• …how you look — Health doesn’t have one appearance. Many important aspects of health are invisible and deeply personal.

Let’s work together to promote body respect, inclusion, and a more compassionate understanding of health — one that honors diversity and challenges stigma.

💬✨ It’s National Compliment Day! ✨💬

Everyone needs a little confidence boost now and then—and Saturday, January 24, 2026 is the perfect excuse to spread some kindness! 💖

National Compliment Day is all about sharing genuine praise, lifting each other up, and making someone’s day just a little brighter. A kind word can spark a smile, boost confidence, and even change the course of someone’s day (or life!).

💡 Compliments don’t have to be big—
✔️ “Great job!”
✔️ “I love your smile.”
✔️ “You always brighten the room.”
✔️ “Thanks for being you.”

The best part? When you make someone else feel good, you feel good too—total win-win! 🙌

This day was created in 1998 to encourage connection and positivity, and it reminds us that even the smallest, sincere compliment can go a long way.

So today (and every day), let’s notice the little things and say them out loud. 💬💛
And don’t forget—compliments are so powerful they even have a global celebration on World Compliment Day, March 1!

💬 Bell Let’s Talk Day – January 21, 2026 💬

Bell Let’s Talk Day is Canada’s national day of conversation about mental health — a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage meaningful action 💙

✨ This year’s theme: Taking a moment for mental health ✨
Canadians are encouraged to:
• Take moments to care for and check in with their own mental health
• Take moments to reach out and support others
• Take moments to recognize the importance of mental health in our homes, workplaces, and communities

Bell Let’s Talk’s website provides great tools to start a conversation about mental health (conversation guides and mental health pocket book). You can find out about these here: https://letstalk.bell.ca/tools-and-resources/tools-to-start-a-conversation-about-mental-health/

Bell Let’s Talk also created a toolkit that includes stickers, posters and activities to share with your family, friends and colleagues to help start the conversation and show your support: https://letstalk.bell.ca/tools-and-resources/bell-lets-talk-day-toolkit/

💙 Today is Blue Monday — January 19, 2026 💙

Many people refer to today as Blue Monday, often described as one of the most challenging days of the year due to the combination of post-holiday stress, cold weather, and shorter daylight hours. While this idea isn’t a scientific diagnosis, it’s a good reminder that it’s okay to feel low sometimes — and support is available.

Check out SVCHC Mental Wellness programs on our website - they are free and you don't need to be our client to register: https://seawayvalleychc.ca/category/all-programs/community/mental-wellness/

If you’re feeling down, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, you’re not alone. Reaching out to a friend, family member, or mental health professional can make a difference.

Updated Navigation Services Pathways Resource – Please Share

We’re pleased to share the most recent version of the Navigation Services Pathways resource developed by the Navigation Table of the Great River Ontario Health Team (GR OHT). Since it was first shared in September, a few updates and refinements have been made.

This two-page resource helps individuals, caregivers, and care providers navigate the health and social service system and connect to the right supports at the right time. It outlines local navigation services across key areas including crisis lines, general supports, health, mental health and substance use, children and youth, and seniors and disabilities.

Please share this post with anyone who may need guidance on how to access and connect with appropriate supports. 💙
