This week, April 19–25, we celebrate Administrative Professionals Week, with Administrative Professionals Day recognized during the last full week of April.

At Seaway Valley CHC, we are proud to recognize and celebrate our incredible administrative team — the people who keep our organization running smoothly every single day. From welcoming clients at the front desk, to coordinating appointments, managing communications, and supporting our programs behind the scenes, your work is essential to everything we do.

Administrative Professionals Day has a long history, dating back to the post-World War II era when the growing workforce increased the need for skilled administrative support. Over time, the profession has evolved significantly — and today, administrative professionals are at the heart of modern organizations, navigating complex systems, supporting digital tools and workflows, and connecting teams and communities.

To all of our administrative staff: thank you for your professionalism, your adaptability, your compassion, and your commitment to excellence. Your contributions do not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for the impact you make each day.

Please join us in celebrating and thanking our administrative professionals this week! 💙

Yesterday, we were delighted to host a special volunteer luncheon in celebration of our volunteers during National Volunteer Week and the Year of the Volunteer 💙

We were so grateful to gather together and recognize the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and compassion to make a difference every day at Seaway Valley Community Health Centre. It was a joy to see so many volunteers connecting, sharing stories, and enjoying each other’s company.

🏆🎉Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Year, Helene Shaver! Your dedication and impact truly embody the spirit of volunteerism.

A special thank you to Tom Everson, from the Rotary Club Cornwall-Sunrise his inspiring words, shared through the lens of many years of dedicated community service. His perspective was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of volunteering.

We also extend our thanks to our Cardiac Rehabilitation team—Julie Lessard, Physiotherapist, and Leslie-Anne McDonald, RN—for their engaging presentation on the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, highlighting the meaningful ways volunteers support client care.

Thank you to Erin, our Executive Director, and Stephanie, Director of Programs, for sharing insights on the impact our volunteers have across the organization.

🌍 World Earth Day – April 22 🌱

Every year on April 22, people around the globe come together to recognize Earth Day—a day dedicated to protecting our planet and raising awareness about environmental issues that impact us all.

💡 Why it matters:
Our environment plays a vital role in our health and well-being. Clean air, safe water, and green spaces all contribute to healthier communities. Earth Day is a reminder that even small actions can make a big difference when we work together.

🌿 Simple ways you can take action:
• Reduce waste by using reusable bags and containers
• Conserve energy by turning off lights and unplugging devices
• Spend time outdoors and appreciate nature
• Plant a tree or start a garden
• Support local environmental initiatives

🌎 Did you know?
Earth Day began in 1970 and is now celebrated by over 190 countries worldwide!

Let’s work together to protect our world—our home 💚

This National Volunteer Week (April 19 – 25, 2026), we pause to recognize something truly powerful: the impact of people who give their time, energy, and heart to others.

Volunteering reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness and generosity can create lasting change.

At Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, volunteers are woven into so many of the programs that support and uplift our community. Whether it’s helping run groups, supporting wellness initiatives, offering a listening ear, or simply showing up with kindness—these acts create ripples that extend far beyond a single moment.

Volunteering isn’t just about giving back—it’s about building connection, strengthening community, and reminding each other that no one is alone. Every hour shared, every smile offered, every effort made truly matters.

To all of our volunteers: thank you. Your compassion fuels our programs, your generosity inspires others, and your presence makes our community stronger, healthier, and more connected.

We are deeply grateful for you—this week and always. 💙

🌼 A Meaningful & Joyful Day at our Social Gathering today! 🌼

Today’s activity invited participants to get creative with a picture journaling experience—using images to artfully express what matters most to them and what supports their health and well-being. The results were thoughtful, personal, and truly inspiring. 💛

Beyond the creativity, the room was filled with connection—friends reconnecting, stories being shared, and plenty of laughter along the way. Add in a delicious lunch, and it made for a wonderful time together!

Moments like these remind us how powerful creativity, community, and connection can be. ✨
