Ottawa OPP stopped this driver on Highway 417 after receiving a notification from the ALPR camera that the plate had expired in 2022. The owner of the vehicle had outstanding fees of $1,753, which is why the plate did not automatically renew. The vehicle was also uninsured! The penalty for operating a vehicle without insurance is a minimum of $5,000! If you can't afford to properly insure your vehicle, find another mode of transportation.
