Mary is now offering Menopause Strength Training at Broken Squirrel! 💗

Mary is a Canadian Armed Forces veteran and recently retired from a long career as a Public Relations practitioner. Health and wellness have been a lifelong passion of hers, both as a competitive athlete and as a fitness instructor.

Determined to debunk mistruths and misinformation around hormone health and women’s fitness, Mary pursued a certification as a Menopause Doula (Health Support Practitioner) through the Doula Training Centre, Toronto. Since completing her client practicum, Mary went on to further my studies as a Licensed Menopause Educator through Menopause Expert Group (MEG), and pursued additional qualifications, including Menopause 2.0 with Dr. Stacy Sims, Brain Health for Menopause with Dr. Fiona Lovely, and a Women’s Coaching Specialist Certification through Girls Gone Strong, the world’s leading female fitness training program for coaches.

A previous career as a respiratory therapist has allowed her to be a steady presence during some of life’s most challenging moments, from birth to end-of-life care. This background has given her a rare perspective on trauma and resilience, shaping her as a counsellor who truly gets it. Chantale offers a safe space where you can process your unique health needs, manage stress, and build resilience. Her approach is integrative and tailored, drawing from a range of effective methods like CBT, narrative therapy, internal family systems, polyvagal theory, and EMDR to help you navigate PTSD, stress, anxiety, and depression. She is a firm believer in holistic support and is here to guide you on your journey toward healing. ✨

Don’t let the name fool you - or rather take it seriously - because strong is what you will become! This class incorporates resistance training and weight-bearing exercises to address age-related muscle and bone mineral density loss, which is particularly important for fall risk protection.

Classes begin powerfully with resistance training and cardio intervals to peak heart rate levels. After sweating with intention, the class moves into a cool-down stretch and restorative practice to aid the body in parasympathetic nervous system recovery.

Take a look at our new offering: Move Into Meditation, taught by Krisie! 🍂

This practice meets you where you are and gently guides you inward. Through mindful movement, we reconnect with the body’s natural rhythm—awakening flow, and easing tension. As we settle into meditation, we rest into stillness and embodied clarity, supporting the nervous system and cultivating a steady sense of wholeness and ease. 😌

This ongoing class will take place on Mondays at 5:30pm and Sundays at 1:30pm!

MEET Kristie, the newest addition to the Broken Squirrel Yoga Team!

Yoga has the capacity to take you to the edge of who you consider yourself to be and
supports you in redefining your reality. Kristie teachs with a focus on cultivating stability through somatic movement, breath, and meditation—creating the support from which an inspired life can grow. 🧘‍♂️

Kristie specializes in guiding Somatic Meditation – where nervous system regulation can be felt in the body through meditative awareness. It is in this state that we re-establish of the body’s natural ability to move through cycles of activation/deactivation with ease. She has studied with Yogrishi Vishveketu for the past 10 years in the holistic style of Akhanda Yoga as a 500hr RYT, with additional training in Yoga Nidra and Yin Yoga practices. ✨
