“We should not be afraid of suffering. We should be afraid of only one thing, and that is not knowing how to deal with our suffering. Handling our suffering is an art. If we know how to suffer, we suffer much less, and we’re no longer afraid of being overwhelmed by the suffering inside. The energy of mindfulness helps us recognize, acknowledge, and embrace the presence of the suffering, which can already bring some calm and relief.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh (The Art of Living)

Mindfulness teacher and author Chris Willard offers some out-of-the-box ways to introduce mindfulness to youth.

I love how easy it is to understand his teachings.

I love how easy it is to understand his teachings.

"The ones who cause suffering must also become the objects of your love. They are the product of an unstable society, and they need our help."

I often teach my clients the importance of letting go. What we focus on is what we feel. This deep understanding helps them bloom into who they can become.

Finding Your Quiet Place

Everyone can benefit from a mindful walk in the woods. I provide a non-judgmental and safe opportunity for people to spend quality time outdoors while learning valuable de-stressing and emotional coping skills.

Join me year-round and explore the variety of beautiful forests, meadows, and oceanfront walking paths the Comox Valley has to offer. My goal is to help my clients learn mindfulness skills and a love of nature through a focused attention on the present moment, in a non-clinical environment.

Mindfulness is the secular practice of bringing one’s attention back to the present moment. Oftentimes we go through our entire day distracted by our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. We fail to achieve an understanding of our experience and the world around us. Mindfulness training helps us to separate ourselves from stress, negative thoughts, and other bodily sensations that may be overwhelming. These experiences are observed and accepted without judgement.

Benefits of mindful walks include stress reduction, less emotional reactivity, improved communication skills, new self-observation skills, empathy development, decreased anxiety, and a better quality of life.
