IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's - Comox Valley

IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's - Comox Valley Join us at the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s to celebrate and remember people in our lives who have been touched by dementia.

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. (established in 1981) is dedicated to helping anyone concerned with or facing dementia have the confidence and skills to maintain quality of life, to ensuring that public policy and perceptions reflect the issues and reality, to securing funding for support and research and to raising awareness about the disease. is the leading source of education and support in B.C. for people impacted by dementia, through Resource Centres located around the province and the province-wide toll-free Dementia Helpline, 1-800-936-6033 or 604-681-8651 (Lower Mainland). Our programs and services include early stage and caregiver support groups, dementia education programs, tele-workshops, lending libraries and newsletters, and the toll-free Dementia Helpline. The Society is also advocating for better dementia health care in our province, working with government partners on government policy that supports family caregivers and person-centred care for British Columbians living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Currently there is no cure for dementia and knowledge about the causes are limited. That’s why the Alzheimer Society of B.C. is committed to funding research in Canada through the Alzheimer Society Research Program so that one day we will live in a world without dementia.

The 2020 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's has been cancelled - Please see below for a message from Glen Mountfield, Senior Development Officer -

We are so grateful that you’ve registered for the 2020 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. The event is the Alzheimer Society’s flagship fundraiser and an instrumental way to support people affected by dementia.
Held every year on the first Sunday in May, the event remains an opportunity for people to remember and celebrate people in their lives who have been affected by dementia, while raising funds to support people living with the disease today and to enable research into the causes of and cure for the disease.
Given the current news surrounding COVID-19, we are unable to hold group walks. This decision was informed by recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada and the BC Centre for Disease Control, which has put limitations on events of more than 50 people, as well as asking the public to engage in social distancing.
We are committed to ensuring the safety of our participants, staff, volunteers and their family and friends.
While we are disappointed we won’t see you in person on the day, we have some exciting plans in the works for another way of coming together as a team, so stay tuned! Still keep May 3 free in your calendar!
Even though it will look different this year, together, we will still remember and celebrate people affected by dementia and fundraise to make a difference for people affected by the disease.

Each donation towards the Walk for Alzheimer's helps fund crucial programs and services for people with dementia, their caregivers, and their families.
