The last few weeks have been full, and I’ve noticed something in myself and in so many women I sit with (in all corners of my life): this pressure to show up perfectly for everyone — especially as the holidays creep in.

It’s like the season cranks the volume up on old patterns: wanting to be thoughtful, available, responsive, on top of everything… while also managing work, family, emotions, and our own capacity.

And when we can’t meet every expectation?
The guilt kicks in real quick.
Not wanting to disappoint anyone becomes its own kind of weight.

I’ve been reminding myself — and women around me — that not meeting every need isn’t a failure. It’s being human. The idea of "perfect" never sets us up for success in the first place. Holidays or not.

If your bandwidth feels stretched right now, you’re not alone. You’re allowed to choose what actually matters.

Give yourself permission to let some things be “good enough,” and honour the limits of real life… not a hallmark movie version of one.

No perfection required.
No constant output.
Just doing what you can, with the energy you have. It's enough. ❤️

Almost a week past the time change — how’s everyone feeling?

I’ll be honest, I know I’m struggling. Even a one-hour shift can throw us off longer than we expect. It’s not just “losing an hour.” Your WHOLE body can feel it:
• Sleep still a little off
• Mood & overall emotional bandwidth feeling lower than usual
• Energy & motivation may be lagging
• Appetite or craving changes
• Focus just feels harder to find...

So if your home felt a little extra chaotic, cranky, or worn out this week, you’re not imagining it — and you’re definitely not alone.
Our bodies respond to light, hormones, and routine, not the clock. So even several days later, it’s normal for things to feel off.

Still feeling off? That’s OK — your body is just catching up. ❤️

Taking care of your mental health doesn’t have to be scary. 👻 Self-care can be saying yes to this, or no to that — it’s about noticing what YOU need in the moment.

Sometimes self-care looks like giving yourself permission to enjoy some Halloween chocolate, GUILT-FREE. 🍫

Caregivers and helping professionals: it’s easy to keep going until you feel drained.

This season, as the leaves remind us that change is natural and slowing down is part of the cycle, it’s a good reminder that caregivers need care AS MUCH AS anyone—and that those who support others still need support themselves.

If you’re on the slippery slope of burnout or already there, know there’s HOPE. Burnout is treatable—and it’s not your fault. We live in a culture that teaches women to give endlessly, to keep showing up even when we’re running on empty.

✨ You deserve the same care and compassion you offer to everyone else.
Even a few deep breaths or a quiet step outdoors can give you a moment of space to pause and listen to your needs TOO.

And trust that the little things ARE the big things over time. That I know for certain❤️

❤️ I took time to slow down—rest, move my body more, and ground myself in what truly matters. Often, we know what we "should" do, but it only clicks when we actually take the step. Like any behaviour change, YOU have to be ready for it yourself.

Even as a therapist, I need these reminders too. Slowing down helped me reconnect with my creativity and sense of self. We can’t be everything to everyone—no matter how much we want to be.

✨ Starting a planned leave until October 6, 2025. I'm taking this time to rest, reflect, spend more time with loved ones and honestly just enjoy some space for myself. ❤️ Who knows what hobbies I’ll pick up along the way!

I won’t be checking messages or seeing clients during this time, but I’ll be back in October and excited to reconnect then.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer!

Think of mental health like physical health. One workout doesn’t make you fit, and one salad doesn’t transform your body.

✨ It takes consistent, daily choices over time.

✨ The same goes for your mind – it’s about showing up for yourself every day. It’s in the way we talk to ourselves, how we handle stress, and the support we give AND receive.

There’s no final stop. Just progress, awareness, and the courage to keep going ❤️.

Summer can be beautiful—and busy.

The pressure to make the most of it can leave us feeling like there’s no room to slow down.

If you’re feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or just needing a moment to breathe– you’re not alone.

It’s OK to pause.
It’s OK to say no.
It’s OK to change your mind.

I'm hopeful you make space for YOU this summer. ❤️

✨ Therapist confession: I LOVE a good self-help book…

BUT sometimes I get caught in a loop of always trying to "improve," "heal," or "fix" myself. Have you found that too? It can be exhausting.

There’s a fine line between growth and burnout.

AND sometimes– the most nourishing thing you can do is LET GO of the pressure to always be working on yourself. No goals. No fixing. Just fun.

That’s why I’m pressing pause on the self-help books this summer and giving myself permission to choose joy. Choose fun. Choose spicy reads over self-improvement. Because honestly, that is healing too. ❤️

What spicy and/or romance reads are on your bookshelf heading into summer!? 👇
