With allergy season is around the corner for many sufferers, a great natural remedy to consider is Acupuncture. Symptoms can be quite uncomfortable with itchy dry eyes, runny nose, congestion etc. Acupuncture can help with the symptoms you’re experiencing by opening the meridians for the smooth flow of qi. Basically, what that means is it can reduce congestion and excess phlegm by promoting circulation and draining excess dampness. Acupuncture is a great tool to any imbalance you may be experiencing in the body.

Spring in Creston is beautiful with abundant blooms in an array of colours and textures. Unfortunately what comes with blooms is pollen. Allergies can be aggravated this time of year and one thing that can be sure to help symptoms of runny nose, itchy dry eyes, skin irritations, sneezing and just general discomfort is yes you guessed it, ACUPUNCTURE.

🌺 YIN TANG- favourite point to calm the mind. Also commonly known as the third eye, Ajna or minds eye. If I don’t needle this point on myself I will often use my acutonics for a milder stimulation. This point can help resolve anxiety, strengthen intuition and just generally get you feeling pretty radical dude.

One of my favourite meridians to use, the stomach! Great for TMJ pain, migraines, tooth aches, tinnitus, vertigo, digestive issues… the list goes on! One thing that I’ve noticed with scalp and facial acupuncture is it’s pretty much always turns into an “acu-nap.” A quick and easy way to get the system into parasympathetic mode with almost all of my patients falling asleep. Sleep sweet 😴

Facial acupuncture is not just a cosmetic treatment. The intake for a regular acu visit is the exact same. The goal is to have a picture of the whole body and treat what we can see as well as any underlying skin conditions. I don’t only treat the face, I treat the body as a whole while spending that little extra time our faces so deeply deserve. We hold a lot of emotion in our so faces so sometimes we need a little helping hand.. or … needles 🪡

🔥 The physiological fire of the body is essential to all physiological processes. Our “fire” has many names, gate of vitality, gate of life or our ming men fire. When our ming-men fire is not burning brightly it effects our metabolism with a feeling of cold, listlessness, edema, low libido, depression and poor digestion. Simple acupressure where our kidneys lay, along the line of our hips to our spine can help reignite the flame. 🔥

I have always been fascinated by the moon since as long as I can remember. With the full moon coming up I thought what a beautiful way to talk about the feminine aspect of Chinese medicine, YIN.
Every physiological process and every symptom or sign can be analyzed in the light of the YIN YANG theory. The moon in the night sky represents YIN, while the sun represents YANG. In the body YIN houses our vital substance.. QI, ESSENCE, BODY FLUIDS, BLOOD AND SHEN(SPIRIT). When our bodies are not in harmony symptoms may appear. If there is not enough YIN we have symptoms of dryness, scanty periods and hot flashes. Our vital substances are not nourishing our bodies. If there is too much YIN we will have a Yang deficiency - they are always in dynamic equilibrium - manifesting as a feeling of cold, fatigue and low libido. Luckily acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years to bring the body back to a harmonious state, to homeostasis.
