I Be Jammin

I Be Jammin All of my jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and pickles are small batch made. I use as much locally and home grown produce in my recipes as possible.

I have had my products pH tested and approved by Vancouver Island Health Authority. I've been making jams, jellies, chutneys and pickles for the better part of 55 years, starting as a little girl of 7, in the kitchen with my Grandma. One of the most exciting things about my products is that they are prepared by MY hand with love and locally grown fruits, berries and vegetables. I fully support our local farmers! Native to Vancouver Island are the Salal berries and Oregon Grape which I use. I do also grow some produce in my very own garden! Tay berries are extremely tasty and unusual. Fine hand zesting the Marmalade, now there's a feat of endurance! "... made with real ingredients, no artificial stuff or fillers." My small batch productions consist of some of my Granma's, Mom's and my traditional recipes as well as my signature flare for combining different fruits, berries and vegetables. These combinations come from my playful side to incorporate new flavours. I challenge my customers to tantalize their taste buds! All my products have been PH tested at MB Labs in Sidney Vancouver Island http://www.mblabs.com/
I have been selling my homemade products for 20 years, 10 of those in the Cowichan Valley and entering the Cowichan Exhibition over the last 5 years has won me numerous first prize ribbons. Selling at the Duncan and surrounding markets has given me exposure to people from many countries. I continue to fill online orders from as far away as Rome, Chad Africa, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Singapore, US and across Canada, too many to list! Special Orders are obtained by request and have included such as:
β€’ Wedding Gifts for guest to take after the reception. A home-made jar of "I Be Jammin" preserves includes the bride and grooms name and wedding date on the label.
β€’ The Integral Ecology Group http://www.integralecologygroup.com/ workshop completion gift of a small jar of "I Be Jammin" preserves.

Good morning everyone...well it's that time of year again where we gain an hours sleep but feel like the darkness has taken over. It's a hard time of year for many. I've been busy cooking for our Christmas Market in Cedar on Nov 9th. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us.
I want to thank all of you who came out and supported us this season...we wouldn't have a market if it wasn't for you. Next year will be our 30th anniversary!!!
Do take care...stay warm and dry and if you need anything please give me a call. www.ibejammin.ca

Good morning everyone...thought this was cute..."Isabel and me" braving the cold.
So here is my plan for Sunday. I won't have the full selection on my table so I'm asking if you would like something to call or message me today or tomorrow with your order and I can have it ready for you. The most important thing that goes on the table is the Halloween candy, spiders and George the skeleton. πŸ™‚Can't disappoint the kids!
I hope this works for you. Knowing Kathy and me we'll still be laughing! See you Sunday...take good care.

Hello everyone...before I go any further I want you to know that this isn't a "Pity Pot Post" just some facts. Last Sunday at the Cedar Market was a bad day for me getting soaked through rain pants, jeans and even my long johns. I didn't warm up for a couple of days. Having fibro and arthritis makes it very hard. The drive home was a nightmare hydro planing everywhere. My tent, stands, tables etc are in the back of an open pickup. Everything was soaked and gritty from the mud. It really was just too much for this old woman who loves what she does. So I've opted out of doing tomorrow's market and will be at home cooking. If you would like to come by please do. This is hard for me to say I won't be there for the people I've grown fond of and some I love you to pieces...but I need to take care of me too. Kathy too was affected by the cold and damp and couldn't warm up either. We will be there next week for the Halloween Market regardless of the weather (I see it's calling for more rain) but the candy and spiders have been bought and need to be handed out. I love seeing the kids! Kathy and I will improvise with a simpler set up...that works well. Thanks for understanding. Take good care.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hopefully tomorrow's market will be a dry one...regardless Kathy and I will be there because I do have have orders for folks. So there will be lots of delicious items on my table to add to your Thanksgiving dinner. I made Cranberry Orange Chutney yesterday (it has the least amount of sugar in anything I make...only 3 cups of sugar for 18 jars...fresh oranges zested and juiced, fresh ginger, golden raisins, apples and spices...lovely and tart!) Cranberry Hot Pepper Jelly gives you a nice zip with turkey or cheese and crackers. Pickled Beets, Zucchini Relish, Spicy Corn Relish, Mango Chutney, Pickles...the list goes on. Hope to see you all tomorrow. Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family.
